In actuality the idea for the scenes was spawned by an actual, on the layout, derailment of the locomotive and the boxcar as described by Bob Little in his news reporting. When I used to host the weekly Team Track Tuesday thread I would have to come up with a new team track scene each week. It was always a challenge for me to create a new scene each week. I usually created these scenes on my layout each Monday night. On that particular Monday evening I went to the train room and got the trains running ... as I do my best creative thinking when the train are running. As the VO 1000 locomotive got close to the switch for some unknown reason the boxcar, on the team track, began to roll toward the switch which intersected with the mainline. Next thing I knew the Locomotive was leaning on a 45 degree angle and the boxcar was off the rails. Seeing this happen I got the idea within a second to create a derailment scene for that edition of Team Track Tuesday .... I think it was a TTT edition at some point in 2018.
As I was looking through my photo archive last weekend, I came across those photos and decided to give them a new life with a new twist .... reported by WPTV's Bob Little. The fire chief, Preston Holmes, was one of the first non family members I can ever remember. He was a paid daytime fireman at the volunteer fire dept located across the street from where I lived when I was a young kid. He always took a liking to me and I to him.
As the late Paul Harvey used to say... " And now you know the rest of the story."
😁👍👌😃☺👀👍🏻🎖❤😍 Thanks for all your marvelous contributions Pat'... You keep this thread interesting and entertaining'...
Lew...wooden fairing, necessity is the mother of invention
I remember my Father-in Law had a scout which his 6 kids ran around the back lot, kept stripping the 2nd gear, otherwise held up pretty good.
Seems Scouts are popular as they were back in 1939, My Dad had one when he was twenty. He had to sell it when he was drafted in 41'... he loved that bike'...
That's a 2016 Indian'...Full Dresser....
Ted, that is a beauty, a several years ago we raffled of a red one with tan saddle bags for "Clowning for Kids" , they are great bikes.
sidehack posted:Trumptrain, we had a similar event a while back at the station in Fairfield. The following was in the Fairfield Gazette.
Tragedy at Fairfield
The once peaceful station at Fairfield was rocked by a horrific accident today.
A tank car loaded with a noncorrosive substance and a hopper loaded with paint balls destined for Canada left the track around 8AM crushing to death a railroad worker.
A conductor viewing the carnage had a heart attack at the scene, which was fatal.
True to his calling he was still holding his signal lantern when he breathed his last.
The accident did major damage to the station and a nearby trash can.
The only other injuries were to a plump woman who dropped her half full coke bottle and to her chagrin it broke her big toe. There will be law suites and investigations.
A suspicious man was caught on video hurriedly leaving the scene just before the fatal event. If anyone recognizes this person please notify the Fairfield Police Dept.
Surveillance Footage
Model Railroading can be heartbreaking some times

Ray, they are indeed the true Cadillac of motorcycles, and of course the Road King too. I think the Indian is just a tad smoother, less vibes, at almost 640 pounds.. Heavy but smooth as silk.......
That's a nice capture of that Alton Southern switcher, Lee, thanks for posting.

Motorcycle shops and railroad tracks seem to go together. For many years the Harley shop in Vandergrift was beside the tracks (PRR).
Ray, once-upon-a-time in my misspent youth I watched sidecar road-racing and I've never looked at sidecars the same way since. The way the rider hung out horizontally a few inches above the asphalt on right-hand corners and would then leap to lay flat on the straights was an eye-opener.

Lew, you need to watch out taking a right hand turn, too fast and that side car comes off the ground then steering becomes very hard. My bike and boys.
