a picture a day....

Hi Folks,

Most of you know me and my situation.  For those of you that don't - 5 years ago all my model railroading plans had to go on hold because my wife took sick and spent 7 months being tossed back & forth between the hospital and the nursing home.  She came home 7 months later and my no. 1 priority has been helping her to recuperate.

So, I really appreciate the talent, ingenuity and inspiration you all display in your pictures.  Being able to see what you have done takes my mind off other things for a while.

Thank you all for sharing your talents, ideas, inspiration, ingenuity (and any other complimentary "i" word that comes to mind.

Keep up the good work for those of us who, for whatever reason, don't have the time or resources to create their own empire.

The prime mover on the lead unit is offline (psst, it's a dummy!) so the poor old Trainmaster will have to take up the slack.....

Here is a broader view of that neighborhood where the campers are passing through with their trailers in-tow....

When I first built the platform holding this part of the layout, adding it to the main sections, I experimented with the track you can see exiting from inside the hill placed, instead, on the left (of this photo) side of the hill, in place of the roadway, with no tunnel or exit in there. That track, my #1 Mainline, is situated alongside the very front of the layout for approx. 30' up to that point in the overall panorama, so I was more interested in having more real estate to craft into place than having Mainline#1 outside the hill/plateau. Thus, this roadway, with all its scenic features was established parallel to the tunnel and its track inside. Also, I like tracks and the trains to be somewhere and to go somewhere, andto return from somewhere, to not always be visible every foot of the journey.

Was in Louisville for a convention this past week, got to do some touring while there.  Came across this at the Buffalo Trace distillery.  Highly recommend the tour (and the tasting!)
