"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

Hey everyone, Scott from Trainz here. I haven't posted in the past, letting our banner ad do the work, but thought I'd try things out, see if it's something you're interested in. So here's two HO scale items we've got in stock over at Trainz.com today that caught my eye, and maybe you might like.

For our PRR guys, how about this streamlined K4s in Tuscan Red? It's a Broadway Limited locomotive with Paragon3 sound. I like seeing the exposed mechanics of a conventional engine myself, but you don't see many of these streamlined Pacifics out there. I know the prototypes made life difficult for maintenance, but we've got things a bit easier.

We've also got this Durango & Silverton set from Bachmann. Old hat for those of you in the hobby for years, but it makes a good starter if you're dipping your toes into the hobby. The Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 really did set the standard for a while. Maybe it's a bit generic for the prototypical folks, but in my experience they've been solid runners.

Anyway, if a "Scott's Picks" type of post once a week or once a month sounds interesting to you, let me know.

Just a quick hello Scott from a customer "down under"

Bought an MTH Premier PS1 4 truck Shay from you guys last month, and received it a week ago. Super quick delivery to Australia, despite "Covid" slowing down the mail. Very well packaged for its long journey.

I have always wanted a Shay that would run on my O42 curves. Did a normal service when I got it, changed out the battery for a BCR, installed a TVS, did a factory reset from the Z 1000, and the little bugger does everything it is supposed to do. Huffs and chuffs and smokes and goes real slow in both directions, and the couplers work every time. Extremely happy with the loco, and all of its features.

Will continue to buy my "special" MTH loco's from Trainz.

Hi bob2,

Maybe. But really I can't say. If it was in a collection we bought along the way, maybe? Even that that is a really, really nice piece, I can't say I remember.

I have been in the hobby for the past 45 years, built a couple layouts, had one collection and sold it to start my first train store, and now have another one. Model trains are my passion and as I tell people I have the largest collection in Georgia, probably the whole SE United States, it just changes every day!

Scott:

Great timing on this post!  I was considering getting one of the Durango & Silverton sets to have running, and I may just get one from Trainz!   Of course, the engine is a standard 2-8-0, but it looks the part and it will allow me to run something like this on HO, given I don't have any HOn3 running!
