Has anyone been to the Allentown Train Show? Can you cover the entire show in one day or should I plan to stay over night? I'm told it's a big show - I know it's scheduled for February. Any input would be appreciated.

IF you go early am on a Saturday, yes you can cover it in one day.
Amherst is a different story though!

There's a crew of forum members who meet at the Hamilton Family (Ham Fam Restaurant for Breakfast on Saturday morning and a fellow who eats "foo Foo" breakfasts brings early admission tickets. So come early, eat well, and shop 'til you drop :-) Chuck AKA Allentown usually starts a tread to gather an attendee count for the restaurant.
Allentown is a very nice show. I always find great deals there and stock up on parts. One day is plenty even if you move slowly and check out all the tables. There are many HO tables which you most likely can Skip over. They are grouped together.
Thanx guys - I guess I'll make it for one day - would like to hear more about Amherst though !!! Paul

I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Allentown is my favorite show (besides York). I always look forward to going to both it and the breakfast.
Speaking of breakfast...Chuck, it's getting near that time again...
The Allentown show is also in a building adjacent to a very decent PA style farmers' market. some good food there.
I love the Bar pie(pizza) at the farmers market...Plus Dans chicken is good also. Good food and great train meet...
PLEASE NOTE: the Farmers Market is only open on Saturday, so that's the day we go. Great day out, go to the train meet, Fairgrounds Farmers Market for great food and hit the Casino in Bethlehem on the way back to Jersey!
You'll have fun .... SAM
I enter at 8am Saturday, walk it 3 times making purchases on the 2nd and 3rd round, and leave by 10:30am the same morning.
The Allentown "Spring Thaw" show is a quality show to attend but its not always a thaw. I have been there when there was a lot of snow on the ground. Still one of the better shows in the area.
There are a good number of dealers in two buildings selling prewar, postwar, MPC and the modern day import trains.
By all means join our crazy little gathering for breaksfast at the Hamilton Family Restaurant!
