Hey Chuck,

 

I see we're up to 16 on your list.  I wonder where everybody else is?  Don't we usually have 30+?

John, we have been in the mid-20s for the breakfast recently. Hope to get there again. It seems some threads end up pushed back several pages pretty quickly, and we haven't yet been reduced to bumping...yet.  It's also a couple of weeks until Spring Thaw (the groundhog said so) and many guys like to wait for some weather indication before making final plans. Looking forward to another Spring Thaw in Allentown!

Chuck, I also want to avoid "bumping". Were you still living in the Bronx when Freedomland was in operation?

Joe.....I went to Cardinal Spellman HS on Baychester Ave from 67-71.  Every time I got off the Dyre Avenue Subway I saw the towers of COOP City being built.

I am purposing to come. That is Hokk-speak for I'll be there barring any unforeseen emergency...... My brother, who is a local but not especially into trains, will likely accompany me.

Freedomland was 3-times the size of Disneyland and only lasted from 1960 to 1964. Although it cost almost 4-times what Disneyland cost, I thought it was a bit on the "shabby-side" when I went. I know the Co-ops replaced it.

I loved Freedomland   The Chicago fire is still imprinted on my brain.  The gunfights at Fort Wilderness were pretty cool too

We forgot to put our names on the list.  Don Pedicini Jr, the OGR Advertising Manager, is joining me for breakfast at the Ham Fam. Since Don is an early riser, like Bill Parisi, the odds are good that I will actually get up in time to attend breakfast.

 

I really respect morning people, I am just not one of them

Only an hour away but still can't make it and I'm retired , TOO early.

Joe, yes I lived about 3 miles from the ill-fated Freedomland. Lots of mis-placed anticipation, though. Should have known the city government would be a major culprit in its demise. The much-promised public transportation to the park never really materialized. Only the Dinky and a few buses made it near the swamp that would soon become Co-op City. Even that proved to be a mistake for the future of The Bronx, having empited the once-exhaulted Concourse, soon to be filled by those who never seemed to appreciate how lucky they were to live on one of the great thorougfares in metropolitan New York.

Chuch, I got my ticket in the mail on Friday.  What's amazing is that I only sent away for it on Tuesday!

 

Great work ATMA Team!  Faster than a speeding bullet.

Actually gunrunner we trust Chuck but I we enjoy seeing him standing on Hamilton street trying to scalp the extra tickets he's left with.

 

Also, I'm glad you're going to the breakfast.  I need to tap into your experience with the led passenger lights I emailed you about.

I really thought I was finally gonna make it to one of these but found out I have a morning meeting I can't miss. Hopefully next time

Maybe I should bring my Freedomland View Master 3-D reels and viewer for Ben and Chuck to see.

I'll bring a battery and an LED, it'll be very impressive.

Joe.......the problem with Freedomland was that once you went once......you didn't need to go again......you'd seen it all. That's why I believe it failed.
