Amtrak CAZ crash in Somonauk, IL yesterday | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Yesterday afternoon the Amtrak California Zephyr #6 hit a semi carrying a heavy load just west of Somonauk, IL. I heard about it on the radio when I was about 5 miles away so I drove over and tried to see it. I couldn't get very close. The front end of the train was damaged in the cow catcher area, but didn't derail and was able to continue on to Chicago Union Station. There was one injury, but haven't heard if was on the truck or the train. The truck trailer was pushed quite a ways down the side of the tracks.

"Somonauk Police have put out a call to a local towing company for a 190,000-pound crane to help remove the crane, the radio station said."

Why bring the crane in the first place if one has to immediately remove it?

Im sure they meant to remove the transformer not the crane
