Any love for the SD70M?

Canadian National had 25 SD70I locomotives and then SD75I units. 

Santa Fe had the SD75M variation. 

The UNION PACIFIC SD70M units had several variations in body parts depending on where they were built.

I would be interested, but they need to re-position the trucks, putting them closer to the pilots. They could use the frames from the newer SD60E locos to accomplish this, along with making them available in 2-rail configurations. 

Agree with the truck placement and possible solution, Jeff.  Lionel would have to do an all new tooling since they’ve never done a proper SD70M, but I’d be okay with that.  My fingers are cramped from being crossed for 10+ years.

That K-Lionel Tooling was Excellent.  All that it needed was a scale fuel tank.

I would buy two Union Pacific sd70ms with the flared radiators.

BACHMANN now owns the K-Line by Lionel SD70M/SD70I/SD70MAC tooling or mold in China.

Many people would have to ask the people running BACHMANN in Philadelphia to have the people at the factory in China to produce new road names and variations.

The K-Line’s are amazing (save for that sad 2,500 gallon fuel tank).  Having taken one apart, I can see why these remain on a factory shelf.  The assembly labor must be twice that of the plastic diesels we see today from Lionel and MTH.

Still, I remain hopeful.  Lionel retooled for their last release of SD60M’s (early cab) and SD60E’s.  There is obviously a market for the various varieties of the SD70 series. This topic comes up every now and again.  I just felt it was time to refresh it.

I'm with you 100%. The SD70/75's are still one of my favorite locomotives.  I have a MTH CN SD70M and a K-Line SD75. Aside from some minor inaccurate details, both are fantastic models. In fact, I gave up waiting for the re-release of the SD75 (Andrew, I thought Atlas had the tooling), so I'm in the process of customizing mine into a CN SD75I.  Should be done soon, hopefully...….

I’d be interested in as SD70M re-run too, but, yes, with the truck position corrected and a two-rail fixed pilot option. By the way, the spotting   difference between the SD70M and the SD75M is a single additional duct on the engineer’s side.  Neither the MTH nor K-Line model had it, making them SD75Ms. For those wanting an SD 75M, it’s easy to add though:

I'd be in for an NS one with flared radiators or potentially a pair of Alaska RR ones if done right (also flared radiators).

Union Pacific SD70M and ATSF SD75M would be awesome!

Nice pics.  Those two Olympic units have had new paint jobs within the last few years (same scheme).  Very sharp.

Based on this post,  I doubt we'll see the Olympic units any time soon unfortunately. 

Frisco SD75M fantasty color scheme.......................I'd be a buyer for these! 

You could count me in for one of the SF's and the UP with the flared radiators.
