I ordered a set of passenger cars. 4 for a hundred plus shipping. Hook and loop couplers. Even if I need to swap out the wheels they look pretty good. Responses on a couple of other"G" sites seemed favorable.
I have 3 did upgrade them to metal wheels I use them with my Thomas stuff. Looks great and cant beat the price.
LGB knock offs I think.
Surprising that with all the "information age" internet hype, I had never heard of them before.
Looking forward to getting them to run behind an LGB 2070. Maybe down the road I'll get their steamer, or the train set.
Wonder if the plastic wheels will wear down running on brass track.
IMO, the plastic wheels were replaced with metal to add weight at a lower center of gravity and to reduce the need to clean track for conductivity.
The steam engine shown in the video is a knockoff of the classic LGB 2080s, a model of the one of a kind HSB 99 6001. The real one still runs today on the meter gauge HSB in Germany. The coaches I typically see on eBay are models of German narrow gauge coaches that served on various lines and are similar to some LGB cars, but are based on different prototypes.
GREAT for folks on a limited train budget, or who simply want an around-the-tree or patio layout. Interesting detailed LGB knockoffs, and may create a new niche market. The price is certainly reasonable for the quality!
I'm sure you would agree, that forum members who run Piko, Bachmann, Lionel Large Scale, Aristocraft, MTH, Accucraft, etc, are just as happy with their choices of engines and livery.
I personally run a mixed bag by various manufacturers because I run what I like.
I can afford a BMW, but I like my Hyundai
Cars just arrived!
I am not disappointed. They are very much like the Bachmann Big Hauler type of plastics. Good packaging. Loop couplers and plastic wheels and trucks. The body of the car is held to the frame with 8 screws. The roof snap-fits on the body. Windows are clear hard plastic. See pics.
