Apparently Guliver's Gate just opened about a month ago, similar vibe to the miniature wonderland in Germany. At GG - they can do a 3d scan of you and place it anywhere in one of their 5 scenes, as well as creating another replica figure in any size you want.
"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.
Post your non-O scale stuff here!

And only $22 to $36 to see a HO trainset
NYC is expensive.
I saw a blurb about it in Model Railroader. I guess it's trying to be a US version of Miniature Wunderland.

$36 is cheaper than a ticket for a plane or boat to Europe, lol.
...but yea, that seems NYC pricey all right.
Well over double what I have paid for any other train show.
Offset it with some buys that ARE cheaper in NY? (Nice clothing and electronic deals come to mind)
After seeing this thread, I looked at the Yelp reviews for it.
They were positive. I think one person mentioned the cost.
Good reviews from TripAdvisor too.
They rank it 80 of 1092 things to do. That seems like high placement to me.

Looks to be a little more than a HO train set.
I not only know about Gulliver's Gate, but I also work there as the HO Train Specialist. My job involves maintaining the trains (servicing and repairing), and also working with integrating the various layouts with Train Controller computer system to operate the trains.
That said, if you expect to see layouts like the typical model railroad club or the finer home layouts, you'll probably be disappointed. Most of the trains either run in loops, or shuttle back and forth.
However, if you look at the level of detail of each layout besides the trains then you'll probably be impressed. Each layout was built by a team from the part of the world that is represented. As a result each layout has it's own style to it, based on the interest of the people who built it.
Is it a bit pricey? Maybe, but there are discounts available (usually on line). Also, service personnel get a discount (with proper i.d.), and service personnel in uniform are admitted for free.
If you do a search on youtube there are quite a few videos about Gulliver's Gate, some professional, and some by individuals. Please watch them before you pass judgement.
I hope to see some of you there.
Yours,
Stuart Aaron

The June issue of MR had an ad with a discount code if you buy your tickets online.
As for Miniature Wunderland, they were at the grand opening on May 9, and they also came by for a visit today. Very nice people.
As for the differences between Miniature Wunderland and Gulliver's Gate, the former is one very large display, while the latter has seven smaller displays.

Every town has a cost of living variance. My comment was more about an areas image, not about the display's viewing value as a whole.
Many things in NYC carry an extreme sticker shock for out of state visitors. You can lump LA, and Chicago in there too.
I doubt it is inapropriately priced for NYC's entertainment market, and the modeling well worth a better look.
Why not tell us more?

Don't know what that means but it looks like a fun place to visit. As far as pricing goes we paid that much to see a movie this weekend and we're far from NYC.

Hmmmm....Sounds like Northlandz!

That would be unimpressive, I was not blown away by Northlandz. Interesting scenery, but too repetitive, I hope they did a better job than that for the price!
