Hello,
This posting is a continuation of an earlier discussion related to Atlas Switch from a couple days ago.  It seemed there was interest in a demonstration of how to power the closure rails of larger switches using the Atlas #6925 Non-Derail Circuit Board. If you’re looking for a solution to help your locomotives through larger turnouts then I hope you find this video helpful.

You can get the same problem stacking multiple switches or crosses. This is a shot of an
Weaver E-8 with pick-up rollers about 14" apart. They manage to find a dead spot in the two switches.
With these smaller O-54 switches the gap is only about 1.5"

The distance between gaps is about 14"

That matches the Weaver E-8 pick-up contacts and it stops when crossing the (2) switch combination.

I installed (21) 6924 boards for the (25) switches on my layout, there are (4) sets of crossover switches.  The boards are in a central location, requiring (8) wires from the 6924 board to the switch. (2) INA and INB, (2) Power routing C1(2), C2(2), and (1) for power from the switch location to the 6924 board COM2. There are (3)wires to power the switch motor, OutA, OutB and an accessory common.  Switch power in SW PWR IN, and 6924 board power PWR and COM, lower right on the board, also have to be supplied to the relay board. Board power can be daisy chained from board to board.

Boards installed.

Close-up of the boards each in marked for the corresponding switch, note the (3) amp power routing fuse.

Norm - thanks for your input regarding Custom Signals.  I do plan to use these as well.  A few years ago, Jerry Kimble of Atlas-O did a mini seminar at York related to track planning, showing us a few methods to use Custom Signals to protoype actual railroads. Needless to say, during phase 3 on my layout I will begin to install these pieces of artwork.

Mike CT – I did try to give you credit in my short video but I reversed your OGR forum name (sorry).  Actually your early postings were very helpful and informative to me which got me motivated to begin installing the #6924 boards on the layout,…  now I’m happy to say I have completed my installation of these boards on my layout. Note; I’m at phase 2 of a 3 phase design/layout plan. My current count on the layout is: (14) switches wired with (10) #6924 circuit boards. One difference though is I choose to locate circuit boards nearby the actual switch they are powering.  Again, thanks for all your valueable help!
