I think HW meant to double head with...not to convert.
When they get this one done, it's gonna doublehead with the Ace 3000.
If this project goes very, very well they might have a locomotive that could doublehead with C&O 614.

I never said or indicated that 261 should be converted to oil, nor used as a test bed.
There is - possibly - one positive aspect to this. The 3463 sat shabby and vandalized for years, only a short distance from the headquarters of the Santa Fe Mechanical Department, where most of its design was created. At least if it sits shabby and vandalized after the failure of this pie-in-the-sky project, it will be far from home and retired Santa Fe employees will not have to see it.
So what is the status of this pipe dream?
