HMMMMMM.  I have some Gargraves, However, I prefer Atlas, the nickel brass carries current much better with quicker response from signals that are equipped on the locos that talk and have sound effects, etc.  Plus the Atlas is heavier and trains seem to ride better than the Gargraves.  This is just my (PO). Many have and love Gargraves'...  As the saying goes,'..Sazeech is own'....🤩

I started collecting 1/24 Die Cast cars in 2010, and building like structures.  I switched to 1/48 scale in Jan 2012 , when I started an O gauge layout.  This is one of my first photos of cars and models in general... Taken with a cheapo Nikon L18 point & shoot camera.

Artie, Nice looking layout! I like the read pickup and tanker, But what I like is the Airstream trailer and the Ice Cream truck in the back by the billboard!

Wow, Ted, really realistic auto models! Nice lighting as well.

Thanks for the compliments on the layout, Mike. It’s only 5x9’, but I hope to expand it another 5x9. The Airstream is a Hallmark ornament, (!), and the Chevy Good Humor truck is by Road Champs from 1999.

Speaking about trucks, Mike, those two are beautifully detailed, and I like the oil facility as well.

Thanks Artie, the oil facility is scratch built out of old coffee cans and a card stock spill pit. Then I just added lights.

Hey there Artie, Here is another one I found and after looking at a video of my old layout I still have alot of trucks in boxes under the layout to break out!

you know the routine by now. I post a couple Dinky “before” pics, and then show my restoration. I kept this one pretty simple. A Dinky Austin Somerset, another one year wonder. That being 1953. The only thing really customized on this one is the jewel headlight installation. An outside photo may make that show up better.

As photos go, the cameras of today pretty much take great photos.  The only thing I do, is use LED lights indirectly, on the subject, and shoot in "Aperture priority... F-16, through F-22, and on a slow shutter speed. 1/25th of a second. I try to use a tripod, or brace the camera so it doesn't move.  Sometimes, I use the built in timer.  I find to, after many years of taking photos, I just shoot and not spend time analyzing. And those pics always seem to come out the best.....📸

Ted, outstanding photography...the silver blue '49 Caddy above makes me want to hop over the door and put it in drive and hit the gas!   I've gotten lazy with my pic taken recently over the past couple of years by using the cell phone camera!  Nothing like using the F settings on an SLR camera for great pics like yours...

Ted, thanks for the camera and lighting details.  And, yeah, sometimes those spontaneous (not overly thought out) shots are the best.

Mike, great industrial areas on your layout along with a realistic highway system...wish I could duplicate what you have here on the layout!

Thanks Paul'.. I also have used the Cell camera as well.  They're great for quick shots.. and actually take a pretty good picture.  Many are using a stacking feature program and achieve good results.  The cell phone cameras are hurting actual camera sales.  Especially among the younger set'.. For real photography, I prefer a real camera...📸
