Great classic cars, Ted.
Paul, I don’t know about sets 1 and 2, but the vehicles in set #3 look exactly like the purported 1/48 scale vehicles from Menards. I have two of those vehicles, the straight job, and the panel truck in REA’s schemes.

Ding-ding-ding!!! I think we have a winner. I have a slightly different version of the second Menard’s vehicle you pictured and it is identical in almost every respect to one of the Set #3 cars. As I remember, you are correct - the cars were advertised as 1/48.
@Apples55 posted:Now you’ve gone and done it, Jim!!! Based on your observation, I just went down and opened them all up again. Set #1 indicates on the three individual boxes and on the bottoms of each car that they are 1/43. Neither Set #2 nor Set #3 have any scale info on the boxes or cars. I guess I’ll have to be careful about their eventual placement on the layout so that they don’t look too out of place!!! Based on Set #1, I just assumed that all were 1/43 - maybe a wrong assumption.
The mixer is nice, Lee. It is also the biggest of all three sets. I’ll have to consider adding a construction site to the layout eventually.
I have set #3, and when placed next to 1/43 vehicles, they do look odd. I'd still like to collect sets 1 & 2 though.
Finally got a day where the humidity is reasonable for painting. This will be the Army Air Forces tanker. I still have to assemble and paint the cab, which will be lettered for REA.
@Forty Rod posted:The first car I remember clearly was my dad's 49 Ford Tudor coupe in sea foam green. He waited for a long time for that car (bought it new from the dealer who lived across the street), but I heard him telling the guy one day, "Junior, you couldn't run fast enough to ever sell me another Ford", and he never owned another one.
I bought one in 1966 from another soldier in Okinawa. It was like yours, but I think the blue was darker. For its age it was a mighty fine car. It had over 100,000 miles on it when I got transferred and sold it.
Ours was a '51 sedan with a similar body style in light green (not sure if it was called "sea foam" or not). I picked up this 1/43 scale model in the background.
That is Seamist green. Here is a site with every car, truck, color, including the mixing formula to achieve the color'... Lots of info'...
Artie, the tanker looks great! I cant wait to see the finished product!
Richie, Nice 51,but I really like the Vett! LOL
Thanks, Mike. It’s supposed to rain over the next couple of days, so I’ll wait to gloss coat it for decals. Meanwhile, I’ll work on the cab build.

Thats funny, its been raining here for days on end and its spose to be dry tomorrow!
Let’s try to stay on the title thread guys
I picked up a '49 Ford Coupe from a gent on this site awhile back. It's great but it's black or Navy blue and I haven't found time to paint it yet.

Not a moderator Ted just trying to keep the Moderators from deleting My thread because some people think this is a Coffee Shop type thread to post everything besides the topic at hand.
@Quarter Gauger 48 posted:Was at the fishing village of Galilee, RI today and found this beauty parked in the lot at Georges Restaurant. Also established in 1949. Later talking to the owner, he informed me everything is completely stock and restored to the exact factory specs. Looks even better in person'...
A few hours later, this 1955 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight Starfire, pulled in. Another real pristine beauty. Just look at the length of the rear quarter panel..
Nice place to be for you at that time Ted .
Thanks for the photos 🤓
The lines on that '49 take me back to the '60s when I had a green '51 with less than 20,000 miles . 239 cu. in. flat head V8 , whopping 110 hp , vacuum operated windshield wipers , oil bath air filter , cloth bench seats and some really deep digging rear end gears............. miss that old gal.

Well, you know better than to go off of the topic's intent. This is not a real car forum. Your reaction to Lee's well meaning request that folks stay on topic was not in the spirit of the subject of this thread.

Paul I never knew you could get the Mixer as a Lionel version
@JDFonz posted:Ok Fellows,
you know the routine by now. I post a couple Dinky “before” pics, and then show my restoration. I kept this one pretty simple. A Dinky Austin Somerset, another one year wonder. That being 1953. The only thing really customized on this one is the jewel headlight installation. An outside photo may make that show up better.

JD I’ve been thinking about these Dinky cars you restored and I think they would look great on a Traditional O27 Lionel layout with the old tubular track. I might have to start hunting. Keep those restorations coming we all enjoy them.
@Forty Rod posted:I'd like to see someone resurrect the Dimestore series. I have several and think they were put there just so I could remember when there were many similar to them sold in Woolworths and other stores. Usually about a nickel or ten cents.
Tom. I like those too. When I get to my Lionel Traditional layout started I’m going to have some of them on it what I’ve picked up so far. I didn’t know they made the Ice Cream truck thanks for sharing
@coach joe posted:Okay so here's the latest addition. Like I really need more cars and trucks for what will eventually be my layout but for $1.98 at Wallmart I couldn't leave it there. It's a Maisto 1/43 2017 Chevy Colorado. I bought more for the utility body than the 4x4 truck. I thought I could use the body on another truck, but seeing as how it's a model of a Colorado I don't think it would work on any of my full size pick-ups. I don't know if I'll detail the interior but I may throw some contractor tools and materials in the bed and on the rack. I've still got the '53 Ford Crestline I need to spruce up.
Nice truck coach. The bed looks nice
Boy, that’s just great Lee, now I’ll be bidding against you too! 😁
