Mike - no I didn't restore the Mass. state police car. I found it in a display cabinet at a great old-fashioned, brick 'n mortar, train and model kit store in Peabody, Mass called Northeast Trains. They have a strong web presence as well and their track-cleaning car is one of the best around.
Also, for those interested, DD just got in some new stock, including an array of 1/43 New Ray classic 50's-60's era cars (Buick, Caddy, Olds, GTO, 'Vette, etc.) for only $7 each. I picked up all six and will post pics when they arrive.
Finally got the first rally of the summer organized! Chevys, Fords and Chryslers all made an appearance on North Main...!

Attached is a picture of my car show on my layout. It is reminiscent of one held annually at the North Carolina Transportation Museum which I attended with my Chrysler 300L convertible in the past. My show features the Bullit Mustang and the Sonny Corleone Lincoln Continental. I also have a fire truck show on another part of my layout.

David there is no picture. When was this show at the NCTM? My first real job as a fire suppression designer fellow older designer had a 30L blue convertible with white interior. I had a1965 Dodge Monaco 426ci w/4-speed.

Hi Coach,
They are all made by New Ray and available from DD for less than $7 apiece. The GTO is a little less "metal flaky" appearing than the picture makes it show.
There is also a 4-4-2 convertible available, possibly a W-30 version if I recall correctly.

As a freshman in the University of Cincinnati engineering school was lucky that Chrysler brought two of their turbine cars for us to see 1964.
I too have one of these models but am disappointed they are not the hard tops. To the best of my recollection there never was a convertible. Dose anybody know other wise?

Wow, great looking cars everyone! I really like the car shows and the Fire engine show! I wish I had something to offer, but as most of you probably know I have done a tear down of most of my layout to redo it. It has been taking awhile to get things down as I have to work around things as I have limited space to store things!
This was kind of a neat deal. On a trip to to see my brother in Knoxville, Tenn., I stopped at several Love’s stations for gas and munchies and of course, to use their restroom facilities. I was real impressed with how friendly their employees were, so I wrote a letter to the head office complimenting their customer service(something which I never do). I also said that I loved the look of their tanker trucks, very impressive. Well, two weeks later this showed up with a letter thanking me for the kind words and for patronizing their businesses. It is 1:52 scale and would look great on the layout, but I haven’t had the nerve to take it out of the original display package.

That's a beautiful truck and a good story to go with it, Curt. (I complimented Pepperidge Farm on their chocolate chunk cookies once, and got a coupon for a free package. Needless to say, they are gone, unlike your tractor trailer).
Here's one of the odder cars of history (but a big seller) - a Citroen 2CV. It's by Maisto and I believe it is about 1/50 scale. I bought it around 30 years ago.

Mike, first I'm reading about your layout tear-down! Brings backs memories of when I made the decision to to down mine in our last home before moving to where we are now. It was one heck of a project...I'm leaving my current layout for sometime else to do the tear down
Do you have a plan for re-build yet??

I picked this guy up for $2.00 at a local car show this weekend. I disassembled it for cleaning, fixing and some detailing. Painted over some funky chrome and black plastic with a hammered finish spay paint.
The guy threw in these 2 trailers. I'm gonna use the wheels/tires for pick-up truck loads and behind gas station trash. The trailer bodies will be painted and become storage containers.

When my wife and I crossed the country on a sightseeing trip by highway, we often stopped at Love's stations and they were always consistent and the people nice.
One opened just south of here, and I often go past it to photo/watch trains. I stop by there all the time to use their restrooms, get gas, or buy cheap eats/drinks.
Larry, I really like how the hammered paint looks'... Very cool'.. Nice touch up job..

It’s been some time since I posted in this thread—too busy for social media. But here we go:
This utility truck was made from a 1/43 Ford Illinois Central pick up truck, combined with the body from a couple of miscellaneous trucks. Your bandsaw is your friend if you want to disassemble, re-cut, and reassemble diecast truck parts.
This tractor-trailer is composed of an Ertl cab and an undecorted 32’ Berkshire Valley trailer, which I painted and decaled for the transportation subsidiary of the NHRR. Yes, the decals are accurate. 
Another BV trailer On a restored “basket case” TOFC 85’ flat car. I had decals custom-printed for the NETCO trailers. Five are done, and now I’m repainting some of those excellent Lionel 20’ pup trailers to go in the Lionel TOFC cars.
Last for today is another CHAMP-of-the-Road 40’ van painted and lettered for Dubuque. 
It has been a busy year, but now our entire operating group (all double-vaccinated-a requirement) has resumed operations! I’ve done a lot of work on this railroad and the vehicles are a real enhancement for the operators (8-15 people on a 32x55’ NHRR Layout, all TMCC/Legacy ). Great Fun, and thanks for reading😊

Curt, Great looking Loves tractor and trailer! I also like the story on how you got it! As for me not saying much, thats a first for me! LOL Between the tear down and getting ready for our road trip to ND I have been kind of busy and by the end of the day its just time for dinner, shower and bed!
Paul, At the rate I am going I am thinking this will be my last tear down! LOL I know its going to be a slower rebuild as I want to do things right the second time around. Clean up the wiring, do a better job on the scenery, but most of all I just want to have fun!

Neophyte...nice vehicles...based on the tin container behind the Studebaker, I take it its brand is "Solido?" Is it a special addition...I've never seen one come in a tin box like yours??
