Yep. I have to send a thank-you E-mail to Midge and Andy at MTH for taking my suggestion to heart. My scale-wheeled Big Boy arrived Monday and I ran some track inspection tests at the club tonight. It found several bad spots, but it did negotiate 36" radius (O-72) curves, including a Ross turnout. It ran very smoothly with very good sounds. Can't wait until the prototype is operational and MTH makes a sound file from it. I'm going to put a Kadee on the rear and bring it back down Saturday, but the uneven spots in our track really drive this one nuts, so it will (for now) only make brief appearances at the club, but I know a couple of layouts where it should run nicely.

My amazing wife got me this Jim Jordan print for Christmas, one of the few prints made for the RR I model!

It's about 2X3 feet (you can see the lantern to the right, and to the left is a White Pass & Yukon RR rail slice, to hold it down from the rolled condtion) , so now I need to find someone to frame the thing for me.

Purely by chance, I found this store a town away from our home.  They sell picture framing "kits" with everything you need, and custom make the frame to fit the size you need.  Easy to do, and much less than a framing shop... google Poster Frame Depot in Derby Ct.... yes, they ship all sizes!  I have no affiliation with them!

I've been concentrating lately on adding some variety to the freight car mix. Other RRs, types and colors.

Picked up the MTH PRR gondola & LCL Cement loads separately. Rock Island hopper from Lionel.

Always liked this graphic. Gotta love "the Rock"!

The Railking/Scaleking UP centrerbeam is scale sized  and looks sharp.  The D&H pulpwood car is from Atlas.

Sir

That's pretty cool. Any idea as to the location?

It's supposed to be just past tunnel # 2 going into the Doe River Gorge, right outside of Hampton, TN. The track still exists here (having been re-laid in the early 60s for a ill-fated tourist attraction and now rebuilt by the Christian camp that owns the entire property and former ET&WNC right of way) and I've ridden it in a motor car on two occasions: http://www.doerivergorge.com/

The problem is you wouldn't see any houses from this portion of the line, so it's artistic license.

I since realized I had a frame for another print I wasn't going to put back on the wall, which was a great color for this print and exactly fit it!

Just received a couple of police cars listed as uncatalogued items on the MTH web site.

30-50095 is a 1950 Ford 2-door coupe - Chicago Police Dept

30-50094 is a 1950 Ford 4-door sedan - San Francisco Police Dept

I picked these up from Trainworld December 23rd.  At that point I could only find them on Trainworld and MTH direct, but they are now appearing at other dealers too.

The front end of the Chicago car is sitting a little lower than it should be.  There are two screws on the bottom. I will open it up tonight and have a look.

What caught my eye was the pre-light bar and pre-beacon ray lights on these cars and the radio antennaIMG_3024 webIMG_3025 web.

This plate is off a N&W SD-35... Scored it off eBay to trade to a local guy for a newer EMD plate which he has, That plate happens to have the exact same month and year I was born.

Boy, is THAT in rough shape!!!!    Hope you did have to pay/trade much for it.    By the way, it is "SD35", i.e. no "-" in the model name.  Is the plate stainless steel, or one of the later aluminum ones?

mark, they are mth,,,,,premier, they made a set in like 96,but I have never seen any for sale,,,,wish they had done the cat wiskers tho,,,,also in the last catalogue,,,they have railking f3,,,but I like the silver mesh on the f7,abit more money but only going to buy it once,,,,,would love to have a tunnel motor,i saw a lot of them out home,,,,but,,,,,need to stick with my plan,,,,,,

The weekend before Christmas I received the last edition to Corrugated Container Corporation's N&W passenger train. This is the Observation car. Since this was the last in the series (611 loco & Tender, Passenger Coach, Observation Car), they used photos of actual employees as passengers in the car. Fittingly, Jerry Higginbotham, Vice President of Manufacturing, is the Conductor looking out the vestibule window. Very sadly a few days after receiving this car, Jerry passed away from cancer. It was a sad time for our family as Jerry was my daughter's Father-in-law.

I had to travel to the PO today to pick up a heavy box filled with Lionel iron. Got 3 locomotives that run, two shells and two ratty tenders.  Have the biggest loco(2065) cleaned up, roof corners straightened, new head light but needs lubed. Will work on the others tomorrow. One is a nice 224E with boxpok drivers. One newspaper wrapping one loco was dated in 2005 so it has been awhile.  There is a motor, too with 6 drivers but no e-unit so it won't run but will play with it later. More fun.
