Popps-  I love the picture of the 2 engines, the tanker & the caboose.  Beautiful colors.

I saw the (or a) BC Rail Red, White & Blue unit today.  I was coming back to my office, which I mentioned is literally on the CN line, and saw headlights down the track as I passed over them.  I turned left down my office's street, looked to my left and there she was between buildings at the head of a train running north.  I'll get some shots on her soon enough.  They do a bit of switching on the tracks next to my office.  It's in an industrial area.  I'm hoping to catch some cool engines on the tracks.  The EJ & E also cuts through the CN tracks just south of my office going east to west.  Great trains around here.  I've got a new phone with a great camera from my new gig and am trying to figure out how to load pictures on the computer.  I've got one shot of some CN units from the parking lot to practice with.  Cheers.

Hi Will, sounds like you have a lot of train action in your area. I think the CN bought the EJ&E.

I have been trying to find some pictures of the old IC shop in Homewood IL. I have a couple but I was hoping to have some better pictures of the outside of the shop as a reference for a new Diesel shop I am drawing up for my layout. I will post below what I have. If you just happen to be in that area it would be wonderful to see more pictures esp of the area where the Diesels enter the shop.

Please don't make a special trip there but if you happen to be in that area it would be helpful. Thank you.

Canadian National has modified two 3000-h.p. SD40-2W locomotives to burn natural gas instead of diesel fuel. Nos. 5258 and 5261 are testing now on the 300-mile run between Edmonton and Fort MacMurray, Alberta, with a former Union Pacific fuel tender between them.

They've been converted to burn a 90 per cent natural gas/ ten per cent diesel mixture using conversion kits supplied by Energy Conversions Inc. of Tacoma, Wash. The units are said to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 30 per cent and nitrogen oxide emissions by 70 per cent compared to an identical locomotive burning pure diesel.

CN also intends to convert a pair of 4300-h.p. SD70M-2s to burn liquefied natural gas, with lab testing in 2013 and road testing beginning the year after that. This project will also develop a standardized fuel tender.
