Popsrr, I worked summers for the CN on the Montreal to Toronto trains and the CN yards in downtown Toronto were the Spadina yards were for passenger service.I never saw any locomtove repairs in the CN yards The Roundhouse shown in Toronto was located in the CP yards.
X-WAY Thanks for your comments. The Roundhouse appears to be located right near the base of the CN Tower. Did CN buy the property from CP?
Popsrr, those "Euro Diesels" ,we call them "Class 66" as their british classification, sound very much like your EMD SD50/SD60's. I beleve they even have the same diesel engine. As far as I know, the have some sort of a german or british horn on them, I'm not aweare that any locomotive in Europe has a American horn.
Hope this helps,
Stefan

Stefan Thanks.
A couple of my CN engines.
Popssr, the last time I was in Toronto both CN and CP yards were demolished. The CN Tower was on CN property at it's Spadina yard was developed for Real Estate purposes. The main passenger line passes beside the CN Tower.I believe the C.P. roundhouse is being used by a historical society and don't think CN needs C.P. property. Throughout the years Toronto has a passenger station called Union Station where all the Railroads shared the Station. In Montreal, each one had seperate stations and C.P's passenger station Windsor was also used by D&H and Boston and Maine. C.N. when I worked there I didn't see any American Railroads use it's stations other than CN using Central Vermont trackage to hook up to American passenger tracks.
XWAY Thank you. Was the Passenger station in Toronto just North of the lake and "Harbor something Harbor Inn???
Popsrr,
Very nice set of photos! I have the Weaver 4-6-4 #5302. Although yours is not prototypical it still looks nice. I also have the 2-Rail version of the MTH SD70M-2, it's a great model. I also bought a dummy version of the MTH ES44DC - I no longer want to rip off electronics to make it run on our DCC layout.
Regards, Stefan

Popssr, the Train station in Toronto today still exists its' on Front Street facing the Royal York hotel. It's North of the Harbor and the Main post office is next to it. Maybe 2-3 blocks North of the Harbor. It serves both Railroad and commuter services
X.WAY Thanks for your post. It's been a long long time since I was downtown but I stayed at the Hilton Harbor which now maybe the Royal York?
I can remember having dinner at a "Victor Station" that was near the Hilton and the Lake.
I enjoyed the Toronto Subway system and seeing the Canadian Geese hanging in the mall along the subway route.

Well, there it is. I had asked about this several times. The models I saw in person had the older trucks for 3 rail only. I saw online that MTH had re-issued this. I was not sure if it was ever actually made. Now I'll keep looking for them. Maybe they'll come with ps3 soon? Joe
Engineer Joe my CN SD70M-2 3 rail is from about 2006 when it was the DAP offering from MTH. I think it was like model # 20-8006B for powered and C for dummy.
I got lucky today at Selkirk!
Popssr, The Royal York until recently always belonged to C.P. and was C.P.'s premier Hotel in Canada. The Royal York faced the Train station in Toronto and was also on Front Street. The Hilton or Harborfront is near Lake Ontario about 1/2 a mile away.
X.WAY Thanks for the reply. AH Yes the Hilton Harborfront. OK two seprate buildings. It looked like a little bit of a walk but not too bad from the Hilton.
I was trying to remember the mall along the subway where the geese were hung from the ceiling and I think it was something like Eaton Place? Loved the Chineese food in Downtown Toronto.

Atlas O has announced the upcoming production of the C.N. 40' Steel Refrigerator Car, but a similar Grand Trunk Western scheme was not included in this production run.

These are the types of CN GP9m that would be the right thing to offer in a LIONEL entry level train set.

An F or FA unit in the above paint would also be nice!

You must mean an O Scale FA A-A Pair from LIONEL LLC.
Lionel/MPC made the entry level CN Diagonally-Striped FA A-A Pair, Powered and Non-Powered, in O Gauge back in the 1970's.

Lately, CN has been running some extra long stacks, and as a result, have increased their motive power to meet the demand.
Today, a long container train had two SD70M-2's at the head-end; with a DPU SD70M-2 fitted into the middle of the train. The DPU, 8917, looked almost brand new. If you like long stacks, and SD70M-2's wearing the CN livery, that was the train for you.
Recently, I saw another long CN container train; and it had a herd of SD70M-2'(I think there was four of them) muscling it down the track. A nice little bonus track-side, lately.

Good Day,
It’s time for a new CN Corp office building. O Scale Model buildings that represent 21st Century Railroading would be fantastic!

Another big fan of CN.....
MONTREAL - Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has become the largest shareholder of Canadian National Railway, with a $3.2-billion stake in Canada's largest rail company.
Montreal-based CN (TSX:CNR) says the world's second-wealthiest man owned or exercised control over 10.04 per cent of its shares as of Feb. 25.
Gates has been buying up the railway's stock since being identified as a shareholder in 2006.
He holds the 46.07 million shares through Cascade Investment and as co-trustee of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust, CN said in a proxy circular ahead of Wednesday's annual meeting in Toronto.
The value of Gates' shares are based on Monday's trading price of $69.97, up nine cents in afternoon trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
CN's market capitalization for its 458.6 million shares was $32 billion.

Nice video, thanks. I noticed on the approaching train the engine does not have his headlights on? I wonder if there is a rule on that?
