Popssr, the last time I was in Toronto both CN and CP yards were demolished. The CN Tower was on CN property at it's Spadina yard was developed for Real Estate purposes. The main passenger line passes beside the CN Tower.I believe the C.P. roundhouse is being used by a historical society and don't think CN needs C.P. property. Throughout the years Toronto has a passenger station called Union Station where all the Railroads shared the Station. In Montreal, each one had seperate stations and C.P's passenger station Windsor was also used by D&H and Boston and Maine. C.N. when I worked there I didn't see any American Railroads use it's stations other than CN using Central Vermont trackage to hook up to American passenger tracks.
X.WAY Thanks for your post. It's been a long long time since I was downtown but I stayed at the Hilton Harbor which now maybe the Royal York?
I can remember having dinner at a "Victor Station" that was near the Hilton and the Lake.

I enjoyed the Toronto Subway system and seeing the Canadian Geese hanging in the mall along the subway route.

X.WAY Thanks for the reply. AH Yes the Hilton Harborfront. OK two seprate buildings. It looked like a little bit of a walk but not too bad from the Hilton.
I was trying to remember the mall along the subway where the geese were hung from the ceiling and I think it was something like Eaton Place? Loved the Chineese food in Downtown Toronto. Smile
Lately, CN has been running some extra long stacks, and as a result, have increased their motive power to meet the demand.

Today, a long container train had two SD70M-2's at the head-end; with a DPU SD70M-2 fitted into the middle of the train. The DPU, 8917, looked almost brand new. If you like long stacks, and SD70M-2's wearing the CN livery, that was the train for you.

Recently, I saw another long CN container train; and it had a herd of SD70M-2'(I think there was four of them) muscling it down the track. A nice little bonus track-side, lately.

Another big fan of CN.....

MONTREAL - Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has become the largest shareholder of Canadian National Railway, with a $3.2-billion stake in Canada's largest rail company.

Montreal-based CN (TSX:CNR) says the world's second-wealthiest man owned or exercised control over 10.04 per cent of its shares as of Feb. 25.

Gates has been buying up the railway's stock since being identified as a shareholder in 2006.

He holds the 46.07 million shares through Cascade Investment and as co-trustee of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust, CN said in a proxy circular ahead of Wednesday's annual meeting in Toronto.

The value of Gates' shares are based on Monday's trading price of $69.97, up nine cents in afternoon trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

CN's market capitalization for its 458.6 million shares was $32 billion.
