Normally Amtrak #30 is due around 7 AM, but it was running late on Saturday, July 22. I was able to catch it at the station and then again from the Crawford St. bridge. It made two stops for passengers, and that gave me time to hustle up to the bridge. These photos are the result.

Connellsville is where the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail switches railroads. Old P&LE out of Pittsburgh, PA, to Connellsville then Old Western Maryland RR.   Active track, ?? CSX, and the bike trail parallel most of the way to Cumberland Maryland.  Then the water level route is along the Potomac River to Washington DC.  A picture from near Point of Rocks Maryland. The bike trail is C&O Canal Path trail.  There have been changes in recent years to accommodate bikes in baggage for a more user friendly bike ride along the basic same route.

Thanks for the photos. Haven't been there in years. Looks like CSX does a little bit there. Is the yard pretty much torn out ??

The yard definitely does not reflect her previous glory days, but Connellsville continues to be a spillover for Cumberland, empty "autoracks" plus some mixed freight and pushers for Sand Patch, normal for the post industrial SW Pennsylvania reality.

But C'ville will always remain in my youthful heart.
