The beautiful huge coal tower that a forum member has modeled is in the process of being demolished, i am in a complete state of shock...i have looked at that great monument every day for 42 years !i thought it would be there forever. conrail john

I've never seen it, but I saw the pictures and model on here. I lament the loss of
any vestige of the steam era, any forgotten water tower, abandoned signal tower,
or still surviving engine house. Too bad!
WHAAAAAAT??? Are you serious?I have looked at it all of my life.My grandpa coaled up his Mowhawk there during the war.I have a full o scale model of it on my layout I built from scratch.I am blown away. They don't need to tear it down.CSX now has all but what? 20 employees there now? They don't need the space. In 1940 there were thousands working there.Nick

Popsrr, I don't know why your post above was flagged for moderation. As you can see, when I became aware of it, I approved it.
Lately I've been getting a lot of posts in the moderation queue for no apparent reason. Strange...
Rich,
Thanks for the explination. I did not know what the issue was and I kept looking for the post with pictures to show upso thats why I made the other post.''I thought maybe I had used those nasty words "Lash up" or something lol lol
Merry Christmas Rich and THANKS to the OGR for providing us this WONDERFUL FORUM. Also wishing you a Healthy and prosperus New Year for "14"
It could be because it is so old that it's no longer safe to have standing as it could fall down. Sad either way.
We have an old concrete one still standing and the Amtrak runs right along it everday. I have wondered about it from the safety stand point also.
