I finally received a new DCS system. In my rebuild I wanted to go ahead and add this system to the lay out. I currently only have a few ps2 engines.

I am new to both Legacy and DCS.

With help from members I currently wired the TMCC and Legacy as the pictures shows. I have not fired up the legacy yet.

I have only tested TMCC and conventional trains and track with the cab1 so far.

I have learned how to change the TPC back and forth from command to conventional and all has worked well playing with them.

The goal is to start very basic and run conventional and TMCC trains with the cab1, legacy trains with the cab2 and PS2/3 with the DCS remote.

I have Barrys book and the new DCS manual, so I am studying.

Now after all that(sorry).

My question for help is where  do I get power to the TIU from this diagram and then from the TIU to the track distribution block? Is it even possible with the TPC involved?

Thanks for any information.

Larry

Larry,

You need to connect your TIU channels in Passive TIU mode as described on pages 116-117 of The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition.

If you also want to be able to operate your TMCC engines (and Legacy engines, in TMCC mode) from the DCS Remote, you'll need to use another Y serial cable, like the one you used to connect to your two TPS, and an MTH #50-1032 TMCC/Legacy to TIU cable.

One lasst comment. ]Your TPCs are not "daisy-chained", rather, they are correctly connected in parallel.

This and a whole lot more is all in MTH’s “The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store!

Since you are the only one that has answered I think I should have started this in the DCS. My error.

I have been reading all day. Book as well as a ogr search on passive mode.

Another question reference passive mode:

As you told me I will use fixed channel #1 output straight to track 1.

1.  Should I use fixed channel #2 for the upper level Track 2? It is controlled by a separate TPC and only connected to track 1 by a common outside rails connection.

2. In the book I get the idea I should connect one of the TIU Aux. power sources in the event I shut down power to track #1 it would result in track #2 going off as well.

3. Is that incorrect having power from track and aux power at same time?

4 If I do need one, which one of your suggested aux sources would you suggest I get for my current situation.

Thank you

Larry

I know I don't really need to say this to you but the picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.

Larry,

1.  Should I use fixed channel #2 for the upper level Track 2?

Yes.

2. In the book I get the idea I should connect one of the TIU Aux. power sources in the event I shut down power to track #1 it would result in track #2 going off as well.

That would be a good thing to do.

3. Is that incorrect having power from track and aux power at same time?

No. The TIU wil select the power from the Aux. Power port for its own use.

4 If I do need one, which one of your suggested aux sources would you suggest I get for my current situation.

Any one that you have handy will do.
