Greetings! I recently visited Covington, GA, home of the "Hollywood of the South." I went there to search out sites from one of my favorite shows, "In the Heat of the Night."
I did notice that CSX runs through the northern part of town. The rails that pierce through the historic section of town in a southeast manner are abandoned and crossings are paved over.
Does anyone know who owns the abandoned trackage....CSX, a shortline or the State of Georgia??
Whatever any information can be shared would be greatly appreciated.
