Just read that there was a major CSX derailment involving fire in Hyndman, Pa. A major CSX line so there will probably be re-routes today.

WJAC-TV or Bedford County fire wire facebook for details/pics.
Fire-rescue-hazmat response from Maryland and PA.
Q388 involved, seems to be in north end of town west of wills creek rr bridge.
I have done a lot of video there and if you get too far north it isn't too accessible. Nice little town and are. Was quite a RR town at one time.

Yes, at one time Hyndman had a B&O helper terminal, a interlocking tower (Q Tower), an interchange with the PRR, and an active passenger station into the 1960s.
Hyndman has also had a tragic past, with destructive floods in 1936, 1984, and 1996. In 1949 on XMAS day, a fire killed 2 and burnt out most of the business district along with a number of houses.
Eastbound Train Q388 had 178 cars (128L/50E) along with 5 locomotives derailed just west of the Wills Creek RR bridge in Hyndman this morning about 5 o'clock. About 32 cars derailed, two taking out houses. At least 2 tankers of hazardous materials caught fire, and a LPG tanker in the wreckage was venting gas. At least 1 structure was also involved in fire and destroyed.
A massive response of emergency vehicles went to the scene from both Maryland and PA. Even PA Governor Wolf got out his road map and responded from Harrisburg. As of late afternoon, the fire is contained, but not out.
Hyndman evacuees are to be housed in hotels/motels in the LaVale, MD. area, 15 miles away.
RR- related news:
CSX estimates mainline OOS up to 1 week.
Amtrak 29/30 stopped at Pittsburgh.
Q316/317 go back to running the Mountain Sub to Grafton, some other traffic may detour that way to Pittsburgh, but intermodal will detour far to the north and south.
NTSB responding to scene, along with Cranemasters.

I hope every one is alright.
Oh my! I was thinking of going up that way this weekend. Probably best to just stay away!
Jim, you might use more descriptive title such as "Hyndman Derailment" as I almost passed this thread up thinking it was another "HH is such a $#*!" post.
The burning propane tanker is supposed to be extinguished tonight, then the NTSB gets the site, then the heavy equipment comes in.
CSX is saying 1 week before "normal service" resumes on this trackage.
Amtrak is estimating no service until 8/9/17. The Capitol Limited is operating Pittsburgh-Chicago with a bus bridge to D.C.
It seems only good fortune kept Hyndman from becoming another Crescent City, Ill.
CSX had another distraction in that area today when a coal drag rammed a flatbed tractor trailer in Deer Park,MD. on the Mountain Sub. No injuries but the trailer was split in two.

I'm surprised they have people that close to a venting LPG car with a fire nearby. If that thing catches and lets go, there will not be much left!

Well gosh, no kidding!
To be fair, those pics were taken early in the incident, the local VFD operated by itself for over 20 minutes before any outside assistance arrived. No effort was made to fight the fire, the volunteers evacuated the closest houses and waited for help. Trained haz-mat responders did not arrive for over an hour. As the cargo contents became known, the initial evac area was pushed back 3 times and eventually encompassed the entire town. Evacuees mostly ended up in Maryland, 12-15 miles distant where they still are.
I'm sure in your area, the incident would have been handled differently...
The evacuees should have been taken north to the Bedford Springs Hotel and billed HH. He can afford it.
