Yep, With a little redneck engineering we can run anything from DCS.

Yes that actually works as the relay handles the current just fine. I recall someone actually doing something similar to turn on some room lights.
The getting you a beer trick is a bit more complicated involving the addition of more mechanical devices. One thought is to wire the AIU channels into the switch panel of a soda vending machine (which feeds relays) to drop the appropriate can. Getting it from the machine to your seat is another story, perhaps involving a flat car on a siding designed to receive the can so it can be picked up and brought to you on rails.

Then you will realize why you should have stayed with a conventional coffee pot
