"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

I have a Bachmann 4-6-0 Annie, I currently have a BlueRail board installed running off a 12v NiMh battery.

I have some PS2, TMCC, and ERR modules and was wondering if anyone has installed one of these in any G scale engines?

The BlueRail system is working fine, but I'm thinking of giving this to my grandkids and not sure if I want to go the battery route or use track power.

I have installed both MTH PS2 and PS3 boards inside my engines. The PS2 board must have a motor diode that can handle the larger draw if needed. I have upgraded a couple like that.

I have seen others install TMCC. I read an old post that said the TMCC signal had to be kept from the ground and wet ballast might cause issues. That swayed me away from TMCC. I read another post that a user sent the signal down wires strung along the layout and that worked. I wanted to try that and never did.

So your decision over TMCC might be if they'll ever run outside? I see people have TMCC on O scale outside so maybe it was just overblown?

Joe,

The BlueRail board currently installed is only 2amps, I was surprised the original motor ran without problems.  I think it will be fine w/o a diode on the motor.

Problem with PS2 is I would need a flywheel/tach, not sure how I would do that.  I have a system out of a Lionel 4-8-2, Southern 1491, that I was thinking of using.  It's really the only steam system I have, all others came as diesel.  But the sounds would not be close, but then again they may be just right!

I have a spare chassis I bought and it has all the wiring, etc with it.  Just need to make the commitment and start!

It runs very good with the BlueRail board and 12v battery.  I've gotten so I don't particularly like using my Ipad, would prefer an Iphone but I don't have one yet.

TIGER WINS THE MASTERS!!!  I am stoked, I didn't watch golf when he was in his prime so this was exciting for me

Now if I could just play like that

Sometimes you have to get creative to fit a flywheel inside for the tach to read. MTH had announced that they would release a board that didn't use it. I'm still waiting for it. I don't think the HO board uses it. Maybe someday they release an upgrade kit for the smaller scales. It would work in some smaller motor applications.

The stock PS2 diode would probably be fine on your app then. I think they even use it on their G scale diesels.

I'm in the process of installing DCC in an Aristocraft Pacific steam engine. Got it on the 'bay' cheap. Whoever had it tore out the engine electronics and ran it on plain DC power. What does this have to do with TMCC?  Well the original sound board was still in the tender and it sounded like *&!%@#. I just sold almost all my Lionel but had some Lionel Railsounds boards left. So I installed a steam sound board in its place and designed a Microchip to convert the outputs from the NCE D408 decoder board to the digital codes required by the Lionel Railsounds board. Now have some beautimous sounds.
