Disappearing pictures in Sell Forum

FWIW, I have noticed this as well with my listings, but I was writing it off to the fact that I posted a good number of images in the post... Upwards of 2 or 3 dozen.  Still shouldn't be happening though.  Oh well... At least I know it's not my mind playing tricks on me!!!

Has this happened with images you have uploaded here, or images you linked to elsewhere? If they were images hosted elsewhere, either the link was broken or your hosting service limits the amount of external bandwidth you can use and shuts it down when you hit that limit.

What size in kb or mb were the photos you uploaded? I'm not sure if the 25 mb limit is per file or the total for the post.

 

One way or the other, the relatively large number of photos you attached may be taxing the system and bringing out quirks. You may want to try separate threads with about 6 photos each, all loaded at the same time, to see if that works for you.

 

Another factor may be what I've run across. It is difficult to edit an existing post to add additional photos. Most (but not all) of the time the additional photos do not show up - just a box with a number that can't be opened.

Rich & others: only 2 pics and they were loaded direct from camera to the forum.

Jim, I was aware of the 25MB limit, so I intentionally kept the filesizes low enough to not be any trouble -- or so I thought.  I think most of the "fullsize" images were around 150K... some smaller.  So that would be approx 6MB max.  Puzzling.

When I looked at the post earlier today, the images appeared with a text link to the image, but no red "X." Clicking on the link opened the image.

 

I edited the post to insert the images into the post body and then they appeared in the post OK.

 

Very strange. Still scratching my head...

Don't mean to bring back an old topic but I figured this would be better than starting anew. 

 

My photos, directly uploaded to the forum, posted in various threads in the 3R, Real Trains, etc boards disappear leaving just a small question mark maybe 20-40 (maybe longer) minutes after the post. Any tips/suggestions? It is irritating to re-upload them and I'm planning to list a few items for sale on the FS Board in the next few weeks that I'd like to upload pictures of without issues. I'll post a photo here, one I tried to post in the real trains board, which disappeared after trying twice and disappearing twice. 

 

Another thing I just noticed was clicking on the photo to see the enlarged version brings up an error message. 

I'm not sure what to tell you, other than I think you must be missing a step or something else when uploading and posting the pictures. I have posted dozens of images here, and none of them has ever disappeared...including this one.



Carefully review the image posting thread at the top of this forum and make SURE you are not missing something.

Thanks Rich. The only thing I have been doing differently is clicking the "Trashcan" to get rid of the thumbnail at the bottom of the post. Could that be it?
