Hi all. I'm considering purchasing a double cab diesel engine like the EP-5. What else is out there aside from the EP-5 and Little Joe made by Lionel or MTH? I'd prefer it have a E/F-unit / Alco type nose instead of the European double cabs that typically have flat fronted cabs. Thanks!

Mechanically, the Australian prototypes were the equivalent of an EMD SD7.

Diesels? I thought these were electrics.... Am I mistaken?
whoa - that's a great looking engine. However, I should have mentioned I'm looking for something smaller 18" or under, maybe closer to 12". I think the EP-5 fits the bill best but just looking for options as there aren't many roadnames available.

D'oh! I think most double cabs were.
Heljan make a lovely Deltic in O. Sadly it's for 2 rail, but I'm sure it could be modified.
They also make a NOHAB, which is pretty much a double ended F unit built in Sweden.
I found these pictures of a couple of Jersey Central double cabbed diesels, but I haven't found any more details of them.

I just saw your post. I must have been posting the picture of the HO model when you posted the pictures of the prototypes. These units were built by Baldwin as type DRX6-4-2000. Only the Central Railroad of New Jersey operated them. There was a total of six units constructed.

Bob. Thanks for the information. It's much appreciated.
Don't forget the GG-1. That may be the wrong style for this request...
