Hello- one of my remote switches is malfunctioning. I noticed yesterday that the green/red indicator light on the remote was dark. The switch itself does not hold firmly in place. You can very easily push it back and forth from one position to the other. Has anyone else had this issue, and if so, how do you fix it? Thanks.

Sounds like the moving switch points have become disconnected from the mechanism inside the switch...screw fell out or some such. When the rack that moves the points is in between it's travel, the controller LEDs are dark. You'll have to take the bottom plate off and inspect.

Thanks for the reply. I've taken the bottom plate off to inspect- nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. But the piece that switches the track back and forth between positions is in no way connected to anything else underneath the switch. However, I can't figure out what would be missing- I don't see anything obvious that's not there that should be connecting it.

Here's a picture of the underside of the switch. The black rack, which is driven by a pinion on the little motor, has an arm on it at the left with the spring over it that moves the grey arm which moves the tracks. Is all that there and connected?

Yes there is a small plastic pin on the end of that plastic arm. I bought a used switch and it had the same problem. I drilled a small hole in the end of the arm and found some small piece of rod to epoxy into the hole. It cannot be any bigger in diameter than the original because the slide that it works on won't go thru it's complete travel.

It looks bigger in the picture than it is...maybe measure something on the plastic arm and compare that to the pin.

Or you could by the part from Lionel.

You will have to unscrew the track rails (or maybe loosen) from the plastic slider to fish the new plastic pin into the slider.
