Buy Used And Save Money...!!!! Put Up A Wanted Ad.
Good idea, i may just do that.
Be aware that used Gargraves usually requires more work to get it to bend. It can easily turn into quite a chore. The best way I've found to work with used is to spray it with WD-40 and let it soak for awhile. You'll get to enjoy that scent for quite some time, and you need to clean the rails before you run any trains. Your choice, of course.
I don't know how much is in a case but Wholesale Trains has it for $5.71 each.
Phantom 37 inch Flex with Tinplated steel outside rails
Does anyone make or have plans to make a track bender?
A case used to have 51 pieces in them.
Our own forum sponsor Charles Ro has a good price on the cases, and you might find it a little cheaper elsewhere, but the shipping is what you have to look into. The track might be cheaper at one place, but then they charge you 3 times the price for shipping. You have to look at the total price shipped
If you have a Fed Ex account Wholesale Trains will ship on your account number so you only have to pay what it actually cost.
Be sure you know which Gargraves track you are buying, as Gargraves makes a few kinds of track. Flex track, stainless steel, Phantom rail(center rail darkened), and steel track, also you can get plastic ties or wood ties, don't know for sure if wood ties are still made.
Hopefully you have used Gargraves track before or you will be in for a surprise. All three rails are electrically separated from each other, each rail will need it's own power.

I made my own. I just drew a line on a piece of plywood in the desired radius mounted wooden blocks and tacked a thin wood strip to the blocks to bend the track around. Works great. Sorry i don't have pic's of it.

I will give Charles Ro a call, thanks.
Home Depot or Lowe's sells some cardboard concrete forms and you might be able to use one of them for bending your track. Look in the concrete or building block aisle.

I gotta get one, better than what i made buy a long shot. Do you know which one i need for gargraves?
Call the number in the track bender link, they can tell you which one you'll need. I can't remember which one I ordered. Very nice people to do business with.
This is one of those "buy the right tool and the job will be much easier" things.....
I plan on either selling it here or keeping it in the tool box once I am done with it. Probably the latter, I am a "tool hoarder,"as my wife calls me.
I am using the cookie cutter method for my subroadbed. I use the edge of it to bend my Gargraves curves. It works really well.
My Gargraves bending jig.
96" radius in the middle and about 70" radius at the sides. Move the track along the jig to get the desired radius. The ends require some careful over bending to adjust for spring back.
Bill, That is a pretty neat jig you made up. Merry Christmas to you and hope your weather has stablized a lot since that large storm rip through near you this fall.
Bill that is a neat jig you made, it's simpler than the one i made. I might just make one myself like yours. Merry Christmas.

Nothing like the right tool, i hoard tools myself, never know when you will need it.

Some beer, or lots of it, makes for a great beer belly!
Thats what have have used over the years. Bend it around your stomach until you get the right radius!
I have Gargraves track that I can sell you. Email me if your interested
