Going to the Great Midwest Train Show at Dupage this Sunday and we usually go at the regular time. Is it worth it to pay the extra for the early entry pass? Thanks.

I think it is! It's about $3 more and you can obviously avoid the crowds, get a first look at items, etc. Worth it to me. Joe
I haven't taken advantage of it yet, but it only adds 3 bucks to the 7 buck regular admission price, so I think it might be of interest to a lot of people.
I think we will try it. WE drive from indiana about 1 1/2 hrs away. Might be nice to get in and out before the crowds and get home in time to watch the playoffs. Thanks.
For the first time in a long time I will be attending. I always go early. I find that if I arrive by 7:30 / 8:00 I can see the whole show and get home by 11:00. I live a good hour away. Looking forward to going...
Hello everyone.I may show up this month and may even try to show up early to beat the crowds. So if you see a one leged guy walking thats me.I went a couple of months ago so I guess its time to go and see if my leg can handle it this time.Just remember that thay are calling for 2" of snow on sunday.
When I lived in the area, I always took advantage of the early entry fee. You can park close to the buildings and get through most of the show before the masses arrive. This also allows enough time to visit with vendors and train buddies you meet at the show.
If it were me, I would not do it any other way.
Absolutely!
I usually get in by 8, take a first pass through all buildings, then go through a second tine and leave by 10:30 - 11:00. I try to start my second pass at the main building before 9:30 to avoid the rush through the doors.
Also it's a lot nicer to park in the paved lot rather than in the gravel or grass, especially with the recent rain, and faster/closer to get to your car and drop stuff.

The first time that I went early and parked inside the fence, I felt that this was the only way to go. I completely agree with Passenger Train Collector. I have also started going earlier and meeting the guys for breakfast and that gives a little more time to visit with your train buddies. The social aspects of this show have become as important as trying to find bargains or hard to find items.
Hope to see you all Sunday.

anyone thats been a seller at public shows know it starts as soon as everyone starts unpacking. i use to sell as much,if i got my price, before the show opening as after the doors opened. promoters dont care, they get their $$$$from dealers and buyers intheir pocket no matter what.-jim
I always felt that when you went early you were more with the "in crowd" which helped in negotiations. You will make up the $3 fee real quick. Of course you have to spend money to save money. If that's possible.
Last time I went early, I had to go around to the road between the buildings and pay a guy by the gate there. Early is definitely the way to go. I'm also from NW Indiana, and I got home not much later than when the show starts at regular price.

Yes, that is a fact. My wife uses that excuse all of the time.
