This has been a great week for visits from my fellow forum friends.  Last Friday my good friend Erol Gurcan (aka LOCOLAWYER) and his family came to Boston to visit with Dotty and I for Labor Day weekend.  Erol blessed us by bring his lovely wife and his two girls.  Aside from the trains, everyone wanted to visit some historic sights in Boston.  Many were visited and the below pictures are on and next to the USS Constitution (aka OLD IRONSIDES)  and Boston Duck Boat tours.

Next is the North Station Bascule bridge closing so a Mass Bay train can exit North Station.

Next is Erol, Dotty, and Ralph in the train room.

After Erol and the family went home, we had a great visit today from Gerry Morlitz.  Gerry and I share a liking for repainted trains to fantasy paint schemes.  Recently Gerry had master craftsman and good friend Alex Malliae repaint and do up an SD-45T in Hershey colors.  Gerry and his family are big Hershey Park visitors.

Gerry and his wife Sue told me recently they had a present for my new addition.  They took an MTH building and redid it as Empire Records.  Gerry's family owned Empire Records in Philadelphia several years ago.  This was a great present for my layout and I am very appreciative.

I had a great time visiting Marty, Dotty and Ralph yesterday. Marty & Dotty are great people and it's always fun to talk to them and share things.

Looking at the pictures above, I can only say that the photo really doesn't do justice to the fantastic job that Alex did on the Hershey's engine. Many of you know that Sue and I take two of our grandchildren to Hershey for several days a couple of times each summer and the kids love it. So do I. So when i thought about a Hershey's engine and spoke to Alex, he thought the idea was pretty cool and did a great job. I just picked it up at the HiRailers meeting on Wednesday night and had to show it off.

I do intend to bring it to the HiRailers show on 10/26 (http://www.njhirailers.com/show-dates) which is our Halloween show, so come join us, enjoy the show, bring the kids or grandkids and have some fun. Locolawyer, that means you. Candy bars and trains -- what could be better??? And yes Don, I expect to use Jeb's  chocolate smoke fluid.

BTW, one of the really neat things about the Forum is prior lives and close connections. David1 mentioned the Hershey train, BUT HE WAS A CUSTOMER AT EMPIRE RECORDS about 50 years ago. And I undoubtedly waited on him. Really amazing for a couple of 45 year old guys.

Gerry

Marty, looks like a great time with Erol and his family. Being a lover of history, Boston is a great town to walk around and take in the sites. Looks like Ralph enjoyed the visit from Erol as well. Did you hit up the North End for Canolis?

Gerry, that picture of you sandwiched be3tween your grandkids on the carnival ride is priceless. Also, the building Alex crafted for your gift to Marty is outstanding and would be a welcome addition on anyones layout. Nice!

Thanks for sharing the pictures Marty.

This does not get any better, Marty. You and Dotty are blessed by having so many train friends, and Erol and Gerry are two of the very best. Having Forum members visit is really the best part of what our OGR Forum is all about. These friendships last a lifetime and like a good stock, they pay dividends year after year.

You were also blessed with some of the best weather of the summer. Glad you all had a wonderful time.

Looks like a great time  Love the Hershey engine  I bring the grandkids to Hershey every December.  They have a ball and Hershey has some real cool things including real reindeers.

By the way the shirt Gerry is wearing is one of the TCA Metropolitan Divisions convention shirts for 2015  Go Ape in 2015 with King Kong on the He11Gate bridge.

Glad to see Erol back around when we visited with Marty the other week I asked about him/you as you were not at Alex's and hadn't seen you on the forum as of late.

Marty, after leaving your house we asked Cassie if she would like to go into Boston to the Tea Party Ships or Plymouth? She chose the Tea Party Ships so we went into Boston and took the Tea Party Ships Experience, very inter-active and historical. Recommended history Educational to-do. Then went by Paul Reever's House and old North Church. Then headed to Jon's and got there about 1:00 in the morning. Thanks for a great time; and I'm sure Cassie says hi to Ralph

Love the Record Store too.

Will send Email soon.
