"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

As of closing on Wednesday January 22, 2020 Gulliver's Gate is out of business.  They are now in the process of dismantling the displays for storage until/unless they can find a more affordable and suitable location.

I am sorry to see them close, for while I was let go, I still do care about and admire the work of the original builders, and the people who worked there.  Hopefully they will be successful in finding a new location and reopen.

Too bad.

I'm glad that I finally got to see it this past summer. The airport was great.

I wonder what they are going to do with the equipment and layout?

This sounds positive for me but I do not know if they actually have the new location figured out yet.

From my friends who were working there at the end no new location has disclosed.

My concern is that in Manhattan finding a place that is affordable, of sufficient size, and in a good neighborhood may not be possible. My own opinion is that they should abandon Manhattan, and instead look into moving to Flushing Meadows where the Queens Zoo and the Hall of Science are located (near the old 1964 World's Fair site).  There's parking, it's near the #7 subway line, and Grand Central Parkway and Long Island Expressway, and families already go there.

I went to Gulliver's Gate on 44th St in Manhattan shortly after it opened. My questions are these: 1. Is there a relation between Gulliver's Gate and Miniature Wunderland in Hamburg, Germany? They seemed to have very similar features, especially the airport!  2. How does Miniature Wunderland compare in size to Gulliver's Gate?

Gulliver's Gate was inspired by Miniature Wunderland. In fact, in September 2017 fifty of their staff visited Gulliver's Gate to share knowledge. I met with four of their model railroad workers. They were shocked when I told them that I was the train department at Gulliver's Gate.

According to the website they are located at:

55 Richmond Terrace, Staten Island, NY 10301

That's the Empire Outlets site right next to the SI Ferry terminal and the SI Ferry Hawks Stadium.   That would be a great site for them.  The outlet center has lots of open space since COVID.

And Gunrunner.  Be careful where you throw stuff in glass houses!

The concern about crime in these posts is overblown.  Every large city has crime, but the bulk of the serious stuff doesn't happen in areas where visitors are likely to go unless they are involved with drugs or gang activity.  A little situational awareness goes a long way.

How many of you attend the York meet?  Check out York's crime statistics sometime...
