Has anyone modified polar express for halloween? | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Being on a budget and not being able to get the latest MTH Halloween diesel got me thinking: has anyone modified the Transformer ran PE?
The original one with the CW80? With this set still going for $199 would be worth tinkering because all one would have to do is remove the "1225" and "POlar Express". It is just the right color black and I think some orange decals would look great. Anyone with photos of modifications/how to best strip the gold letters/numbers?
