This is a fantasy scheme, correct? Not that I have any issue with that, I just thought Conrail Hoppers were all gray or oxide brown.
Jonathon, I'm sorry but I can't answer your question. Therefore, I have added the brown one.
@jim sutter I definitely missed something because I’ve seen you do a few of these posts. Are you just presenting a hypothetical and asking the which manufacturer we’d prefer to make the item shown?
I’m with you. I’m confused as to what the OP is saying.
I think Jim is suggesting, or trying to gauge interest, in having those two Conrail paint schemes done by either MTH, AtlasO or Lionel, whoever may have the molds. Jim did a similar post earlier this month featuring a PS-2 Hopper in the International Harvester paint scheme. That post got some interest, so possibly it could be a piece of rolling stock offered by AtlasO in the future, as they have the molds for the PS-2 Hoppers.
If memory serves me correctly, Jim had these 2 paint schemes produced by Weaver, as a custom run for his store in Homer City, PA. Jim, correct me if I am wrong on this. If you are a Conrail fan, or just like to mix up various road names in a grain car consist, these cars would look good. IMHO.
I'm just putting these two hoppers out there for someone to think about having one of our manufactures make them.
Thanks for the clarification. They look absolutely great, but I don't have Conrail stuff, mainly PRR and ATSF.
Jim, instead of simply posting photos, add some text. I think your goal is to start discussion threads, but you need to make that clear.
Why?
@CSX Jim thanks for the clarification! I knew that Jim Sutter had background in the train business and recall posts of his mentioning such custom runs.
@jim sutter As stated above, I knew you had background in the train business- hence why I was asking. There’s a lot of posts, in general, about items people want to see made. Considering the OP, I figured there may be more to it which could affect my response especially when it comes to something I’d like to see produced! All that said, I agree with @Jim R. regarding stating the goal is to ultimately work up interest to get Atlas, Lionel or MTH to notice….but I can also see why one would be hesitant to add post that. I can already see the “manufacturers never listen” and “it won’t make a difference” posts.
All that aside, I’m 100% in agreement with the spirit of this post and the goal! Good on you for using your skills/experience and taking the initiative to do these posts!
I’d like to see the brown Conrail PS-2CD. Atlas, Lionel or a MTH Premier PS-2cd*
*-I know MTH’s mold was for the high side PS-2cd and IIRC Atlas now has that mold. If that’s the case- then just Atlas or Lionel
The real cars would have to be chosen from photos on websites like RailCarPhotos or rrpicturearchives.

The Blue is definitely fantasy scheme. The Oxide Red can be for that particular car. The Grey scheme is quite convincing.
Always enjoy Jim’s posts!😀
