Would someone give me some advice about buying a G-scale Hudson? I understand that the USA company made models of the J-type (non-streamlined) and I'm interested in the availability and price range of these. Thank you !

This one is listed on Ebay in the G scale category. There is no mention in the auction info that I can see that states what scale it is.

I believe all USA trains are 1:29 scale.

LGB made a brass Hudson (with Aster, I believe) in very limited numbers in wood case that was 1:24 scale (I believe). A friend of mine has one.

The USA Trains model is diecast and 1:29 scale as mentioned above. They are beautiful and come up occasionally for sale at shows and auctions. Price can be from a low of $800 I saw once to probably $2000 depending on the seller.
