This was interesting where in a world that seems caught up in short term interest, people still are willing to work on things long term they feel are essential. Among other things, people were willing to pay for this in a variety of ways, very different than what we often see. Quite a feat, too, to build a 35 mile tunnel through the alps, just getting the bores to align is pretty amazing (I have had trouble getting the bore on a layout to align *lol*).
