I'm not sure it'll fit in any of my locomotives...

Maybe we can have a Smoke Fluid Car with pipes to refill your Big Boy!

The new big boy has a new smoke feature.  You fill the tender with smoke fluid instead of water.   That should last about 10 minutes with all four smoke units going.  They are also making a new water tower that holds smoke fluid so you can refill it. Thats why the auto smoke fluid accessory was delayed. They made it the water tower instead. :-)

JEB: about your comment "If stored correctly in a cool dark place, it will last for 2-3 years which is normal shelf life. "

That's the first time that the product was described as having that short of a shelf life.  I remember a thread here a few years back specifically asking about the shelf life of your product.  The answer was basically "forever if the bottle is kept closed", just shake it up a bit if not used for a while.

For me, having just a Christmas time layout up for only 2 months, a bottle lasts me 4 to 5 years (I usually use 2 different aromas, one for each steam engine).  I have not noticed a weakening of the smell.

Can you elaborate even if in a separate thread?

thanks - walt

Walt,

Shelf life depends on many factors. We suggest 2-3 years as an average. That is a minimum shelf life.  Many customers get 5-6 years without any noticeable problems...some report more years than that. Our batch control test bottles are over 10 years old and still as good as new; however, most people don't use the care we provide in our facility. Our suggestion is that fresh is always better since we are talking composition chemistry. Storing upright saves the rubber bulb. We suggest squeezing out the smoke fluid from the rubber bulb before storing. The cool dark place is best as the fluids are sensitive to heat and sunlight. The first signs of aging would be the loss of scent (except for NADA-Lol.) The smoke fluid will still work without harm. We also suggest "Shake well before use" which helps to mix everything together for the best results as the chemicals sometimes separate while shipping or storage.

My reference to this thread for the 2-3 year shelf life was meant to discourage the average hobbyist from buying the gallon size...it would be overkill and the chance of it lasting indefinitely would be subject to optimum care while being stored.

Hope this helps answer your questions. Thanks for asking. We are here to help.
