Good morning everyone, yesterday my wife and I spent the afternoon watching trains in Altoona PA.
While we were down in the area of the Altoona Railroaders Museum we thought we would take a look at the Roundhouse Project.
The Roundhouse exterior looks to be complete but could not get close enough to look into any of the windows due to a security fence.
The exterior of the building has a really grand appearance and is quite large taking up most of the yard area around the museum.
Currently they have a GG1 sitting on the turn table.
Walked around the outer perimeter of the museum and between the museum property and Altoona Pipe and Steel, sitting on a set of tracks with some coal hoppers is a tender.
To me this looks like a tender that has had some major repair and is beginning to rust in certain areas that has not be covered with primer.
Not sure how well you can see the front of the tender but the coal stoker auger is hanging down in front of the tender.
Also in the museums yard behind the fence is another tender that I believe has been there for a few years. I apologize for the photo thru the fence.
The tender is sitting to close to the fence to get a good picture without the fence in it.
There is no identification plates on the rear of this tender so I am not sure what series of tender it is.
Not sure how long this unfinished tender has been sitting there, but hopefully with the roundhouse project finishing up maybe just maybe we will see parts of K4s 1361 around the roundhouse this summer.
