"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

Our grandson bought himself a Bachmann train set a few years back with money he saved from gifts. It came with some track attached to black roadbed and now the train doesn't run well. Over the years I taught him to keep cleaning the rails. I looked at them now and dirt does not seem like the issue. I believe the rails are steel and I told him he needs nickel silver.

So I went online and started trying to compare what's available. I found a complete oval for his 4x8 layout at Train World from Kato. It has the roadbed attached for him to use around the tree.

I emailed them first to ask if it's nickel silver. They thought it should be. It doesn't state what type of rails they used? It bothers me that I can't find out what type of rail it is. Does anyone here know?

I'm afraid I just bought the same rail type that has already failed him.

Kato Unitrack uses nickel silver rail.  I use it for my test loops (HO and N) at home.  Never have had any problems with it.
