The K-Line stuff has the same R2LC and firmware version as many Lionel locomotives, so I'd have to say they should MU the same.
You do know that if you MU a Legacy and a TMCC that you have to run them in TMCC mode, right? The TMCC locomotive is the lead locomotive in this case.
What is the product number of your engines? Very early K-Line was pre modular and used DCRUs.

I've MUed a K-Line GG1 and Lionel HHP-8 with no issues.
As for 200, I thought you could only do 01 thru 99. Both locomotive switches need to be on PROG, and that 7 is just an example, not the number you are to use. Be sure to use the numbers that you have programed your locomotives.
Terry, I didn't find the Alaska version but it appears the GP38s came out around 2005. They would have modular electronics. Some even had cruise. Check to see if your number ends with CC or S. If CC it has cruise and has a different feature code. If it were a steam engine the feature code would be 78 but I don't have info on a cruise diesel. Maybe someone else will chime in here.

What is the ENG ID of the other locomotive you are trying to MU with?
The RAIL SDS/S SDS switch is to choose either the RailSounds or SignalSounds. RailSounds is the full sound set while SignallSounds is just the bell and whistle/horn.

The Lionel HHP-8 uses the same board as the ERR MiniCommander 2 with different firmware, it's not a Legacy locomotive. So, you were really just using two TMCC locomotives.
I don't think Sinclair said his HHP was Legacy?? G

The problem being discussed was the MU of a TMCC and Legacy. It poses different issues than the MU of two TMCC locomotives.
Ok, Looked like he was asking if K-Line could be MU'd, granted he has Legacy. Any TMCC engine whether Lionel or K-line can MU, they just may have issues depending on what your MUing it with. Especially when non cruise is MU'd with Cruise engines. G
Yep, cruise tosses in yet another wrinkle.

GGG was correct, I took the OP's question to be can a K-Line be MUed, not can it be MUed to a Legacy. And I do know my son's HHP-8 is not Legacy. In fact it doesn't even have sounds which he wishes it did.
I've worked on a couple of the HHP-8 engines, they do have sound if they came with the Amtrak set. Not great sound, but they do have sound.
It was from the set, and they have a bell and horn (SignalSounds), but no prime mover sounds. I guess enough people complained that Lionel did later release as stand alone a HHP-8 with the full RailSounds package. I've thought about hunting that one down for myself, but then my son would complain because mine had sound and his didn't.
Since that has the standard RailSounds serial outputs from the TMCC, you could easily add the ERR RailSounds Commander and have prime mover and crew-talk. Should be a pretty easy install, the sound board is separate.
