I just got a Legacy RS-11 engine. It is beautiful. It runs great. But the smoke output is very poor. You can barely see it when stopped. When moving, it is invisible.
I am running conventional, so I can't use a controller to bump up the smoke output. Is there a way to do this in conventional mode?

When you run conventional there simply isn't enough voltage going to the smoke unit.
This may have been corrected with newer releases.

I know that there is a Legacy smoke control, high/medium/low. But I have not been able to find a way to invoke the smoke control via conventional. So I replaced the smoke element with a low resistance one. It was tougher than the old postwar smoke units. But now the engine gives good smoke output.
I don't know what will happen if I ever go to Legacy control. I guess you would need to keep it at the low setting. Better make a note of that.
