What is the best ( fastest ) way to start up and run two legacy engines on the same track, using the legacy handheld? Both engines are in the system. Thanks

Depending on the vintage, later vintage ENG99, push the start up icon and use the throttle. ENG99 is the ALL for vintage past late 2012.
Earlier vintage address each individually, start up, and throttle. Or assign both the same ID and do the same.
Marty, How would I assign both engines the same ID?
Just put them on the track, flip both RUN/PGM switches to PGM and program the ID. Both engines should respond with a horn honk and blinking headlight to the set command. Flip the switches back to RUN and off you go.
Back of you instruction book should have the specific steps line by line to change an ID number of an engine. Also how to do a lashup. They come new with address #1 so you can do that if the numbers were never changed.
Do you want them to mimic each command or just run them together as a MU/lashup, or just run them on the same layout?

A lashup (MU) is certainly different than what was asked. Perhaps you can clarify?
No MU just want to run both on the same loop. I must have one engine that is newer than the other. When ENG99 is pressed only the the most recent purchase starts up. I have to address the other one by itself.
Thanks to everyone for the help.
