This engine/tender combination has problems with the front engine & rear tender headlamp issues. Neither light is operation in forward or reverse motion. I checked the bulbs and both work OK. I installed a new interconnect cable between the engine & tender, and a new smoke unit. The chuffing sound is good...just no lights. I welcome and would appreciate any thoughts, troubleshooting advice and known solutions to this problem. Thank you for your reply.

I think there are three micro switches on the engine and one controls the lights. Did you check that? Hopefully, I remember correctly. I don't have one right now.

I guess I was wrong. That must be another train. This one has a single, 4 position switch. Here is the manual.

If it is in position 2, the lights will be out.
