Wow that is really early. Expected mostly re-cataloged items but there may be a couple of new items.

With all the shipping delays that continue this year (i.e., anything to do with aluminum passenger cars has been a huge challenge: the Pocahontas set w/611J has encountered yet another delay to Dec2014 for example... approx 15+ months after the locomotives were produced), I suspect anything new in the V2 catalog won't ship until 2015. Although delivery surprises are always welcome!

After hearing Mike Reagan during the Spring York Meet, I'm pretty much expecting the same thing.
I wonder if they are ever going to put any of the yet to be made railroad and privately leased schemes on the ACF Center Flow 3-bay covered hoppers and more railroads on the Pullman-Standard 60' Boxcars.
Andrew
Certainly somewhat earlier that the most recent years. I don't believe there will be any big surprises, but one never knows.
Expect a thread soon about what will be in this catalog.
Great! I don't expect too much, but, still something to look forward to!
Peter
Mike Reagan was very forth coming that the second catalog wouldn't have many surprises or new product in it. I believe Howard Hitchcock said the name on the Notch 6 show.
Guess there will not be much reason to rush to the Lionel booth at York to get a copy before it gets online. Oh well
I love looking at all the new catalogs, but the Lionel one is special to me. Maybe it is a throw back to when I was a kid, but it has always been thrilling to see what's new and dream about it. Some things you never outgrow and in this case that is a good thing in my opinion.

Please God if you are listening.....no Milwaukee Road, Northern Pacific, Great Northern or Montana Rail Link in this catalog. My lhs hobby shop informed me that my MTH Premier Great Northern S2 set and Northern Pacific F7 North Coast Limited Set is in! No more...I beseech you!!!!!!
Think back to Lionel 2013 Vol 2... featured mostly warehouse overstock items destined for blowouts-ville; several nice pilot locomotives; a few weathered locomotives -- not sure whether those ever gained traction in the market; and a few new GP35 road-names. Also a few pages introducing LCS as I recall.
So perhaps Lionel will use 2014 Vol 2 to "re-launch" LCS now that a few more key components are newly or soon available. I sense lots of puzzled looks on people (myself included) when we speak about LCS here... whether it's because we haven't had time to dig into the details yet, or more likely because it's tough to learn without all the products in place. Although I've always been a hands-on learner, I still think there's a need for some excellent printed material that illustrates how all the LCS items fit together.

I think we ALL look forward to a Catalog Release. Lets face it! LOL

I guess I'll have the pick up some Power Ball tickets tonight in case there is something I want.

I think it's the 10th not the 9th.
Is this date only for the Signature Book? Are the other books being released then too? I'm personally looking forward to the Accessories Catalog the most.

Best thing about a new Lionel catalogue is; I no longer have to share it with three older bothers. By the time they finished with it and it came to me it was so a mutilated it was barely legible.
I'm sure all the long awaited LionChief upgrades for the MPC era engines and LionChief multi channel remote will be in this new catalogue. Probably the Playboy Pinup Girl Passenger train with William Jefferson Clinton observation car too. /sarcasm
At the last York when I asked where are all of the accessories at, I was told that Vol 2 would have a lot in it.

This does sound familiar (probably read it here on the forum). I'd love to see Lionel produce modern remakes of some of their classic operating accessories. Or brand new ones. Or both.

I believe it was Charlienassau created a thread awhile back that there would be and accessories catalog. I think that the one guy from Lionel (name escapes me) that was on the Notch6 podcast at the LCCA convention said that this would be the case. He also talked about the postwar style gantry crane would be in it, and that it would be motorized to be able to move forward and backward.
Bill
I'd like to see to a new Intermodal Crane presented with Legacy control.

Swafford
Broken Record here, but it's time for a New Gondola Mold. 65 foot, corrugated - I don't care- just something with a straight sill at the bottom:

Find a photo of the real gondola and post it on the Lionel Facebook page.

Wow, A whole days difference, I do not know if I can handle that.
I hope the only thing I see are the 44 tonners. Retirement is right around the corner The fat check days are almost over, time to tighten the old belt.
The last Notch 6 podcast I heard mentioned a couple of "companion" pieces for the Vision Big Boy (including a water tender) and more command control accessories. Not sure if any of this will be in the new catalog.
BTW, I've given up on either MTH or Lionel producing later model UP water tenders (nos. 809 and 814) and am experimenting with 3D printing of the body shells, which have already been done in other scales.
