I would think we may see a 1948 edition of the New York Central 20th Century Limited with and ABA E-7 set and  a bevy of cars similar to how the Broadway limited is being released. @017 marks the 50th Anniversary of the last  run of the train just before the PC merger.

I hope they do a full 12+ car 20th Century Limited. A 1948 version would be awesome! Especially if they get the observation car correct. I am still chasing the various sets that Golden Gate Depot did.

However, I think it's more likely that they do the 1938/1940 Dreyfuss Hudson powered Century as there is the option for mutiple paint schemes (1938 & 1940) using the same passenger car tooling. 

I will be overjoyed with whatever version they do.

Somewhere above someone mentioned the UP Steam Turbine(s) of the late 1930's - gosh yes - count me in. I want one very much.

There were two, and I understand that both tested briefly on the NYC (not in UP paint) before being sent west. Neither was actually owned by the UP, and wound up doing heavy service on the Great Northern during WWII, before being scrapped, I have read. These were steam-electrics like the Chessie and the Jawn henry, not direct-drive like the PRR 6-8-6.

Also, they were not always yellow; seemed to be in a stealth black or something during the brief NYC stay; UP painted them yellow, I guess; don't know what they looked like on the GN. 

That running gear...first, take a scale PRR GG1, cut and splice the frame for the tank.. oh, boy. Yes, they really were steam locomotives.

To Lionel , MTH and other O gauge manufactures and importers. As we all know a good many of the baby boomers are leaving the hobby for one reason or another. The available discretionary income from the boomers will be dwindling as time goes on from various reasons. My hope is that the manufactures will produce a line of scale trains to be available for the new entry young and older folks that can be afforded by all, Lionel is making the old weaver cars available for a good price and also Atlas Trainman cars are a good start. if you want to capture the new market you will need to produce trains they can afford, if not O well there is always Drones and video games. So what I like to see from Lionel on this catalog is more old Weaver cars at a good price.

Nice pictures. I wouldn't mind some of these cars on my layout. I'm not interested in the super expensive, ultra scale versions though, so I have to agree with your later post about something scale at a reasonable price point.

As a dedicated O modeler and operator I wholeheartedly agree with you. Being a college student I can speak for other modelers my age. Trains are getting out of many peoples price ranges and I believe many are in danger of pricing themselves out of the market. That's why I am glad Lionel has introduced the LionScale products and Atlas O with their Trainman line for those who want to own and operate scale equipment and are at a decent price to appeal to all markets and budgets.

Lionel just did a Steam whistle Legacy Y6b made-to-order recently.   It is a beautiful engine with an amazing steam whistle. Legacy Station and Trainz may still have the #2171 road number.  I loved my #2171 so much I grabbed Legacy Station's last #2175.  Lionel also made a #2195.  The #2171 ran smoothly without incident, pulling a string of twin hoppers and occasionally my Heavyweight Passenger cars .  (N&W Y6b Engine #2171 on right in photo #1. I would like to see a line of SCALE MOW equipment such as ballast tampers, spike drivers, tie inserters, graders, etc.    A small motor to propel them would be ideal.  The actual functions would not be necessary.

I have always liked watching a string of this type equipment rolling down the rails to their work site.

     It's nice to see someone else from Memphis. (It's also a shame that Memphis didn't keep the old L&N line going from Midtown to (actual) Cordova -- that would have made an excellent city-speed (35-50 mph) light rail line.)
A good while back, my family bought a single Lionel O-27 Amtrak full dome passenger car with the name "Prairie View". Since this was also the name of the college my parents went to -- Prairie View A&M University, it was a good investment. I later bought an observation car to the same set. I'm not sure what the series is called, but I think I saw Santa Fe cars with the same body numbered in the "2400"s. 1990s era Amtrak To make a long story short, Although there are better Amtrak cars to be had, even at O-27, These cars came out at a pretty good price point for passenger cars. I've always wanted to convert one or more of these into something I consider unique -- a full-domed sleeper. (I've since heard that at least one was part of the Great Northern Empire Builder, but I have yet to see it.) I also wish that modifications on the original 2400 cars had been made, such as a matching observation car with an open rear end -- with a rear deck and  drumhead, not unlike their Madison-style passenger cars. Georgia 300, used by our 44th President.

Come to think of it, I'd also like to get Georgia 300 -- with an optional POTUS drumhead, even if I had to get it in full O-Scale. (As of now, all of my track is O27, which means if someone did make all 50-something TTX cars in O-Scale, I'd miss out.)

I would like to see Lionel put brass female connectors on the rear of the engine and the front of the tender that are connected to the center rail collector-pickup rollers. Those of us who wanted better roller connections for a bigger engine "Foot-print" could use the double male plug wire to connect all center-rail collectors together.  It would not distract from appearances (after all there was a water line from the tender to the engine boilers. ...  (I don't think they shoveled the water. Ha, Ha.)  It would not have to be used for those who are against any tether, but the single center-rail-only wire would eliminate the drop-out of sound on the tenders too.  (Outside drivers on one side or the other are always touching a rail through a switch).

Did you know that my Vision Line Big Boys do not have a Battery connector in the Tender?  There was no room for them when the "Depleting Coal-Effect" was installed in the Vision Line Big Boys. Going over my #5 Atlas O switches, the tender sound drops out (Main engine sound only) and Lionel Service says that there is nothing that can be done.  The "Single Center-Rail-Only Connector I am proposing would eliminate that.  A bigger footprint means better performance, especially over my two consecutive 90-drgree cross-overs before my middle single Pratt Bridge.  Sincerely, John Rowlen

A correct S1a and K1 would be awesome. Steam era N&W cabeese would be great too. I have plans for a CF and CG caboose I hope to scratchbuild soon.

Am I the only person who'd be interested those miniature Mo-Pac bay window cabeese? Mo-Pac short bay window caboose.
