Lionel Delivery Schedule Question

Im waiting on the Christmas Hopper.  Thinkin' maybe next Christmas....

Go to the bottom of Lionel’s home page and click on “Shipping Schedule. “

This brings up a list of most items. Usually quite out-of-date, however, because they update the list very infrequently. The current list is relatively recent. 

Yes I too am waiting for the Pacifics to come, but when?  They were suppose to be here in September?

Lionel doesn't update the shipping schedule. 

Your best bet is to search your item on the bigger dealer sites like Charles Ro and Trainworld.

They seem to have some inside info and will post their best guesstimate as to a possible ship date and at least update items that don't get shipped per Lionels schedule.

The h10s say 11/14 as well. Previously they said 1/10/19 and then 12/10/19.

Yeah, your best bet is checking Charles Ro.  Unfortunately, a couple of my preorders showed 11/10 until a couple of days ago when they kicked it out to 12/10.  So that date is subject to change.

The MTH Christmas LED boxcars (30-7095) are supposedly shipping now.  

Ro had my LC+ NW-2 for October. Now December. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Meanwhile, my Legacy E6 Atlantic sits at my dealer because it won’t run in Conventional when the smoke unit is on, and I haven’t heard if Lionel has a fix for the problem Yet. This snafu appears to infect all these models, not just mine. 

I did a pre-order through Train World for some Christmas cars. I sent them an email asking if they knew anything. Today they responded that Lionel has not given their dealers any updates on pre-orders and they would let me know when they do have any information.

This is normal for Lionel near the end of the year. They will be furiously shipping everything they can before Christmas. Happens every year. You learn to roll with it.

Thanks Dave. If it doesn't show by Christmas this year, I'll have it for next year. This is the first time I've made a pre-order so didn't know what to expect although I have read some posts from people who have locomotives on pre-order from forever.

Take the date Lionel listed and ad 6-12 months

The thing that is absurd about the shipping schedule is it's not searchable.  I suspect that's done deliberately so it's harder to find stuff so they get less questions.   I can't think of a technical reason they'd make a simple table so it couldn't be searched.

I'm waiting as are many for the new Polar Express Scale Passenger Cars.  I hope they arrive before Christmas eve of that know it all kid will have a fit.

Well, something's I ordered were almost on schedule(about a month off the date, but I think that is their projections when it arrives stateside). I have a good number of things that are way off because of issues, passenger cars being the main one. That was partly because of whatever factory shutdown I think it was.

If you do look at the delivery schedule and are able to find exactly what you are looking for on it, I would say do a search on the web to see if one of the dealers has a provided date(I usually compare to Trainworld) for those answers.

From long, long experience, I never count on getting any new production Lionel as a Christmas gift. The only safe way to have it under the tree on Dec. 24 is to buy something already in stock. This avoids disappointment.

Every year, Lionel ships a ton of stuff to dealers one week or so before Christmas. Some  of it arrives a day or two before the holiday and some the day after the holiday. Neither is a good time for dealers OR customers, but it allows Lionel to say it “got the stuff out before Christmas.”

Now you newbies you know how this works !

Any word on the H10's?  We should be close, they were on the water last month according to the Lionel gentleman at York.

Well in all fairness, this is a problem with all the major players.

I would say at best first week in December, which probably won't happen. I checked on Trainworld's site, they have the Coal Hauler set listed as New Year's Eve, and individual ones 1/31/19. So, I would say have a sit down for a bit.

As far as Lionel's delivery schedule and their getting it out to dealers and customers in time for Christmas, that's nothing new to me. Back in the 90's when I started buying, my local dealer at the time was a great guy named Jack, and he would roll his eyes with the shipping schedules and such. So, its nothing new.

They did manage to get the 2018 Toymaker Trolley to some of the dealers.

If the H10's hit the dock Monday. It still would be 2-3 weeks before you see it and that depends on what dock. Do they come into LA, Seattle, Jersey ? I have no idea. Do they ship from a wharehouse near the dock or do the containers come to NC? I hope to have it by Dec 8 or so..

Thanks for the info on the LC+  NW-2s. Looks like a January arrival at my dealer, then. 

How about the made in USA lionscale flat car six packs? Even Ro doesn’t have a date for these.

I hope the Polar Express isn't late on December 24th...

Ah, that is great news, thanks @Dave Olson. I would imagine that more than likely the Coal Hauler set would be part of that as well since there hasn't been any hold up for production on coal hoppers that I've heard.

PS Dave, sucked we didn't see you at York but I guess you had a lot to work on. I did tell Ryan to say "hi" from Dave, but he may have forgotten that, lol.
