Are the powered and dummy shells interchangeable on the Lionel E6 AA diesel units? The reason I ask is, I want to custom paint a E6 and I only can find Dummy units right now! Also does anyone know if a Lionel E6 dummy shell will fit on a K line E8 powered unit? Thanks, Don

The nose on an E6 is more steeply sloped than the nose on an E8. Thus, even if the Lionel E6 shell will drop onto the K-Line E8 chassis (unlikely, but who knows?), the pilot will not follow the line of the body.
one thing to be careful of is that not all the powered A units have front couplers. e.g. the Southern does, while the FEC does not.
