Now that I'm mostly satisfied with what I have in O gauge, I've been expanding my model railroading interests to more obscure territory. Thanks to TM's video from 2002, I've recently had a return interest in Lionel's prewar OO gauge line. Whether it's my love for Lionel Hudsons, or just how wonderfully detailed and cute they are, its a niche line I think deserves much more credit.
But I do have a few questions about Lionel OO, specifically going prices for certain products and operating characteristics:
I've seen a few sets and even carrying case sets sold around, but I know they're quite hard to find, especially the latter. What going prices do these tend to reach? The one of most interest is set 0080 with the scale 001E Hudson, the 4 freight cars and with an oval of 3-rail track.
I know Lionel made original track for these trains to run on, but finding track that doesn't have its bakelite roadbed warped today is extremely hard to find. Do current manufacturers make compatible track for these trains to run on? Either 3-rail or 2-rail? (Since Lionel offered both types back then)
