Back playing with the layout. I am building it with Super O track.

Last year I hooked up the Legacy to a SC2 to control 6 switches. Now I want to add one more switch, 5 uncoupling tracks and 5 track spurs that I can turn the power on and off. Can this be done by adding ASC's and can they be daisy chained to the SC2?

Thanks,

Steve

The more I look into what I need the more I get confused. I need advice so that I don’t start doing things 2 or 3 times.

Right now I have an old ZW, Legacy Control System, and a SC2 for 6 switches. This all works fine. This is all on Super O track.

I am now adding 2 more switches, 5 uncoupling sections, and 5 spurs that I can turn the power off to the track. To do this what else will I need or what do I need to change?

Thanks

Steve

I actually like the SC-2 for switches and track power control, it has plenty of capacity for that.  You can also control uncoupling tracks, see page 35 of the SC-2 manual.  The great thing about the SC-2 is they're easy to install, no serial cables back to the base.  The relays in the SC-2 are rated at 15 amps, plenty to do the stuff you're considering.

I think I'd add three more SC-2's, one for the extra switches, and the other two to handle uncoupling and the sidings.  This also gives you room for a little expansion.

Page 22 of the  SC-2 Manual  allows for all (6) terminals to be switches

Page 23 of the  SC-2 Manual  allows for all (6) terminals to be accessory.

Page 24 of the  SC-2 Manual  shows a chart including the (4) switch/ (2) accessory.

6 switches. Original.    (1) SC-2

(1) Additional switch. (1) SC-2

5 uncoupling tracks  Program for Accessory and momentary  (1) SC-2

5 track spurs  Program on/off.   Programmed for Accessory and on/off  (1) SC-2

To confirm what John said.

I now have two SC2 working switches. One SC2 working the uncoupling track. When I hook up the last SC two to power the sidetracks I am having a problem. When I applied power to one of the tracks I get a fluttering.

I am running power from the main track to power the SC2. Each side track has a wire from the curve accessory terminal  running to the power rail.

Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?
