Lou, Since we were told at the red carpet event that the Big Boy will be the next Vision line engine due out in early 2014 I will not list that one. So here is my list.

Any Cab Forward black or the Daylight colors would be super

C & O Yellowbelly Hudson

Scale Chessie Steam Special Bershire

Dryfuss Hudson

PRR S-2 Turbine

B & O Blue & Gray Pacific

The Erie Triplex. This engine deserves the full Lionel treatment with full smoke effects -whistle steam, blowdown, cylinders, and of course, an awesome sound system.

While MTH will undoubtedly make another run of this model, I'd prefer a Lionel version due to their better sound system.

Any steam in Reading RR or PRSL would be awesome.

A re-issue of the scale Polar Express would be great, too. Heck, you can put the PE or Polar Railroad name on any scale steamer and I'd likely buy it. A cab forward with the PE or PR name has been on Santa's list for some time.

why have a sp cab forward done in daylight colors or a up big boy in greyhound-at lionels price last thing I would buy is a fantasy piece-big boy in gold late-sounds interesting but I would need a mortgage to buy it

what about a nyc rs3 highly detailed-nyc 2-8-0 plus other lines in 2-8-0

nyc alco pa aba done correctly-no silver trucks

nyc e7 aba -plus other rr lines in e7

I vote for a cab forward - not Daylight colors but the gray version AC-5 that has been done recently in HO and I think many years back in O scale by Sunset 3rd Rail.

I'd certainly prefer that to any novelty gold plated item and anyway that's not what the idea behind the Vision line was.

I agree with the comments about QC made above and surely Lionel's US staff must be getting sick of having to deal with defects/issues in high end products!

The Dreyfus Hudson is the old one on your list I would be interested in.  I think I've bought all the Vision steamers up to now, but a T-1, consolidation or Mountain would not interest me.  I have the JLC Big boy and a Vision version would not be enough better to make me buy.

A Dreyfus Hudson, 2900 ATSF Northern, or Veranda Turbine for me.

Definitely a Vision Line C&O streamlined Hudson. Offer it with both the original orange boiler and the later yellow (might double the sales with two versions ). Rework the nose to get the contour right, needs to be a little more rounded. Here's a picture of the MTH C&O M-1 in orange compared to the Lionel L-1.

M1L1

Also a USRA Heavy Mikado that can be offered in several railroad versions.

E-8/9's.

i'm bringing them A list of Amtrak items

Lou, all those big engines guys are requesting are nice, but who is really going to buy enough of those $1500-1700.00 engines to allow Lionel to make them?

I'm in favor of some of the smaller ones, IE: 2-8-0 Consolidations and 2-8-2 Mikados, or best of all, an N&W 4-8-0 which Lionel has NEVER made.

Let's face it, have them build some Legacy engines we can afford. As for diesels, forget it, the market is flooded with Legacy diesels!

Build some small to medium UNUSUAL steam people will actually buy.

Let us all know how your meeting goes, thanks for your hard work for the hobby.

All scale size with Legacy (And steam effects on steam engines):

PRR 2-10-2 N1s

N&W Class A  2-8-8-4  #1218

21” Passenger Sets:

Amfleet

Amtrak Viewliner Sleeper & Diner

Amtrak Bi-Level sets w/ Full Dome car

Santa Fe Bi-Level sets w/ Full Dome car

Penn Central

Reading Crusader scale full set w/ 21" cars

Amtrak E60

Metroliners:

PRR, Penn Central, Amtrak

Rail Diesel Cars (RDC) scale sets (any and all roads)

Penn Central GG1 (black paint)

And please spread them out over a few catalogs, please!

If you don't already make them, how about Amtrak's Genesis units? Or maybe for unusual steam, a IHB 0-8-0 with the tender booster (I think it's the U2 class). Also, maybe you could rework the software a little so Legacy engines can be operated  by DCS with the same amount of componets it takes to run TMCC engines on DCS? Just sayin'.

1)  A re-issue of Union Pacific 844 with whistle steam. In Black.  Add a Lionel Lines tender as an option....b/c now you can and still be "correct".  Don't change anything else.  Loco is already perfect....with the red Mars lense.

2) Strongly agree with C&O 4-8-4 614 mentioned above.  Lionel could issue more than one paint scheme at several times, thus reducing their total fixed costs...other than whistle steam of course.

3) Great Northern 4-8-4 (or anything close) in Glacier Park paint scheme.  A chance for Lionel to exceed MTH or Third Rail, perhaps?  They did so with the UP FEF.  It can be done!

4)  Personally, I'm a sucker for any NKP scale Berkshire.  How about adding whistle steam?  Road number 759 or 763 or even 755 perhaps?  No mars light, though.  The tooling obviously exists.  And, in my opinion, Lionel outdid MTH on these locos.

My personal view/perception:  Any model of a currently operating or near operating steam locomotive is immensely more popular than a model that no longer exists.  If you can see it, hear it, ride it, etc. - you're more likely to buy it, me thinks.

Also, a finely detailed model of an irrelevant or nonexistent prototype just doesn't make sense.  (I'm a big NKP fan but why would some one shell out the $$$ for an NKP 2-10-4 that never was?  The mallet has been played out, IMHO.)

That's my two cents.  Three bucks more will get me a cup of coffee at Starbucks.
