Al, a few questions....

1. What transformer are you using?

2. Is the train in motion?

3. Are you pushing button 3 on the Cab2

4. Try train brake and train effects graph all the way up.

5.  Do you have at least 18-20 drops in the tender.

Sorry if you already did the above.....but when I troubleshoot I do all the basics first.

Thanks all. Looks like  on / off switch in tender  was the problem. Wire loose.

Now operating but effect very light.

Using lionel premium smoke , going to switch to mega steam and see if smoke volume improves.

Might just need time to settle in.

I'd suggest reading some of the smoke threads before using anything but Lionel premium while your engine is under warranty.  Just sayin'.  It's ultimately up to you.

I use Lionel Premium in mine and it works as it should; changing fluid might not increase output.

Obviously a loose wires a bad thing to happen but there is one additional vulnerability in this feature that it is worth noting. The tiny square foam seal over the smoke fluid inlet has to be properly seated or the smoke will come out there rather than through the lower outlets. Or, put differently, the pressure inside the smoke chamber will be too low to expel all the smoke where it's meant to come out. It's on the inside top of the tool box that conceals the inlet. After just two runs/refills mine came off because the smoke vapor dissolves the tape adhesive that holds it in place. If you've had the smoke inlet open a few times yours might be misaligned or indeed missing.
